Processor Speed Test

Processor Speed Test

The computer as machine is primarily designed and developed for faster mathematical calculations. According to that, it is always topical issue of how computers are really fast when math calculations are concerned. Everything that concerns the speed of mathematical calculation by computer, begins and ends with the actual speed of the CPU. To determine the speed of the CPU, there are many specialized programs that do their job by using complex algorithms. According to the complexity of the applied algorithms, presentation and interpretation of test results is comparatively complicated. What I was interested in, is how much the processor in my computer is fast when the simple math operations are involved. More precisely, how much time is necessary to the processor to execute a billion of simple mathematical operations over the set of real numbers or integers. Under simple mathematical operations are included operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

The processor inside my computer is Intel D805. At the scale of development of processor technology is located approximately at the beginning of the development of Intel's multi-core processor technology. The characteristics were determined by high-quality program for the detection of the characteristics of certain parts of the computer system.
