Rotations of Sonic Tricks
In Sonic, the pen is held by at least two fingers all that time, which results in Sonic tricks possessing some specific rotations. In fact, Sonic used to have 1.0 rotation or more, in which Shadow tricks were considered to be Sonic tricks with more than 1.0 rotation. In those days, in order for one to make a Sonic trick bearing rotations more than 1.0 it was likely to require that the pen must once be released and left spinning on the back of fingers. This suggestion may sound plausible even today, however, there are some Sonic tricks that can not make more than 1.0 rotation, such as Pseudo Sonic, and whose appearance will be rather far from that of 1.0 rotation even if they can try to have their rotations more than 1.0 as the variation of Shadow, like Moonwalk Sonic. Thus we now conclude that it is more reasonable for us to set Sonic tricks apart from Shadow tricks.
Sonic is now considered to have no more than 1.0 rotation because it seems technically impossible to get the pen held by fingers during the whole trick (the pen migrating from one fingerslot to another) to spin 1.5 or more rotations. Definition of Sonic tricks requires the pen to be held by at least two fingers during the tricks. If the pen, for example, make Sonic spin freely from finger hold, it should be treated as a Shadow trick regardless of its rotations.
Variation of Sonic
Sonic tricks in which the pen is caught in an en-fingerslot including a pushing finger found in the starting fingerslot may be considered not really to be sonic tricks. For example, Sonic 34-13 is a sonic trick, but Sonic 23-13 may not be counted as a sonic trick.
Definition of Moonwalk Sonic
UPSB Naming Committee encourages to describe migration of the pen in the direction of spins and change in fingerslots instead of using the term "Moonwalk". This may seem reasonable, however careless abolishment of the term Moonwalk may result in inability to notate some tricks such as Moonwalk Pseudo Sonic. And it is also true that the appearance of and ways to perform Moonwalk Sonic is rather different from those of Sonic; there are still some doubts whether or not we should do away with "Moonwalk". We must continue to work on this matter.
Classification of Tipped Sonic and Tipped Charge
Tipped Sonic is included in the Pass Spin trick category, for it does not have Conic spins but rather Pass-like spins, as well as Tipped Charge.
