Artifact: USER document for in-class presentation on a database tool for LIS 764-Library User Instruction class (please see attached file)
Explanation Paragraph:
The core part of Library User Instruction class was the three different instructional presentations we gave. Ultimately, learning how to be an effective instructor is best done by practicing it. For my second presentation, I, working by myself, gave a 10-minute presentation in which I simulated giving a presentation on how to use a database for The Chicago Tribune at the Oak Park Public Library for people new to the community. In preparing my presentation, I created a USER document that helped me think through the instruction step-by-step, with particular emphasis on the objectives. I then used this USER document as a guide to creating the actual content of my presentation, in which I simulated showing to this audience how to use this database, and access the information it provides.
