Today’s Training session will talk about how to set up different types of Operating Systems through VMware Software, how to manipulate it at a more advanced prospective and how to use the Operating System ISOs’ in the VMware Player. The purpose behind this presentation is to broaden the horizons of VMware users out there. Things to remember, when setting up your Operating System these are the basic steps you want to take:
1. Turn VMware Workstation and select, “New Virtual Machine.”
2. Select the Custom Selection for the more advanced users so that you can adjust your settings to the specifications you desire.
3. Select the version of VMware Workstation you are using and Select, “Next.”
4. Select Third Selection, “I will install the Operating System Later.”
5. Select the type of Operating System and the version of the Operating System you are going to make and Select, "Next.”
6. Select the designated Location you want to save your OS to and Select, “Next.”
7. Select the number of processors you will use and Select, “Next.”
8. Select the amount of memory you plan to use for your OS pending on how much your hard drive will allow.
9. Make your network Selection and then select, “Next.”
10. Select the recommended SCSI Adaptor for your OS, Then Select, “Next.”
11. Select, “Create a new Virtual Disk.”
12. Select “SCSI” as Recommended
13. Indicate how much disk space you want and you can allocate it if desire, if your hard drive permits the action.
14. Name your OS and Select, “Browse” to find where you want to save the OS in.
15. Then select, “Finish” to complete the process of making the Operating System.
Once the Operating System is complete you can make the adjustments you need for the Operating System to run properly. Go to, “Edit Virtual Machine Settings” there you can view your entire set up of how you set your machine and how it resulted. Select each of the selections to make sure everything is in the right order for proper operation. When you get to CD/DVD (IDE) you want to make sure the current selection on the setting is, “Use ISO Image File.” Select, “Browse” to find where the file is for the ISO Image, then after making the selection select, “OK.” At this point you can close out the program for later, or test it to see if you can open it on VMware Player. This concludes this presentation
