As I may have mentioned once before, my career goal is to become Software and Systems Engineer, but my Professional Growth Plan involves quite a bit of work along with completing some certifications as well. I want to complete all my courses for my Associate’s Degree in IT Programmer/Analyst first and then work my way back into the workforce as a Computer Programmer or Program writer, but while I am working I want to continue my schooling as well and I want to earn some advanced technical certifications after graduation. MY first technical certification I will work on will be the Java Programming Certification being that it relates to my major and also may improve what I know about programming. Then I will go back for my second Associate’s Degree, which will be in the newly restructured version of Programmer/Analyst; the Web & Software Developer Degree. By then I will have had most of the classes for that degree covered and it should take me only a few semesters to finish that degree. Then I will move on to a University to work on my Bachelor’s Degree for Software and System’s Engineer, which hopefully most of my credits will transfer so it won’t take me as long to complete my Bachelor’s Degree.
While I am working on my Bachelor’s Degree I plan to work on some of the basic meaningful certifications such as the ITIL certifications, some of the Networking related certifications and some of the Security related certifications and eventually work towards the IEEE certification, which I know it is Network related, but it does help to have a background in network, especially as a programmer. As I may have mentioned, Programmers write programs for networking devices such as routers, switches, modems and other various networking devices. I have no problem being diverse in the IT Field. My completion date to graduate for my Programmer/Analyst Degree will hopefully be May 15, 2012 because I do plan to go to Summer school for an remaining courses not done through the school year if they are available for the summer and I plan to take another math class during the summer to accommodate for an elective plus to brush up on my math capabilities.
I will try not to over load myself or take something I can’t handle, I plan to utilize any resources I can to help me if I am struggling in a class, including tutoring. For the Java Programming certification I expect to complete that within two semesters, so if I take the summer of 2012 off to take a break after graduation and I start on the certification as of fall of 2012, which would be about August 25, 2012 I should complete the certification by May 15 2013 and I may also go for the CompTIA IT Professional certification as an extra certification, it may help me in the field with the Systems Engineering portion of my Bachelor’s Degree, but I will d a little more research on the Software and System’s Engineering Degree to find out if that would be beneficial or not. I plan to go for my Bachelor’s Degree in Software and System’s Engineering possibly by fall of 2014. That way I can figure out if the CompTIA Certification will benefit me on my Bachelor’s Degree or not plus in between time I can take a break from school and find an Entry-Level Programmer job at a good company to start off with and work my way up the ladder gaining experience in the company as I continue my education.
