My Future Career Goal is to get a job/career in the IT field as a Programmer/Analyst by trade to start with, but ultimately I want to work in the higher pay range in that field as a Software and Systems Engineer, So I am planning to upgrade or advance my education to get to that point; it’s just a matter of time when I plan to do so. The reason(s) why I like this field of work is I had developed an appreciation for creating programs and Visual Affects, I think it is very intriguing. I’ve always love computers and really any type of computer technology. Computers have always fascinated me even as a Child when everything was in MS-DOS, it was very fascinating back then because you had to learn the language first hand and type everything manually, when I finished typing in a program and it would work, I felt that sense of accomplishment, especially when typing the code lines for a video game.
As a Programmer/ Computer Analyst I know in that line of work it does involve writing programs, writing and developing software for Operating Systems as well as a variety of other programs depending on who I work for it also involves designing web pages and web solutions, which is probably the bulk of what I would have to do unless I were to work for a software development company such as Microsoft, Linux or a networking company such as Cisco writing the some of the key database programs for the network.
Basically, the types of skills that are required for the most in being a Programmer/Analyst or a Web and Software Developer are Basic Programming skills which you learn in classes such as Basic Programming and Logics, Intro. To Programming, Java Programming, Application and Web Technology and other related core classes like them. These classes teach you what you need to know about how to use these various programs , how they operate, how to manipulate them, how to write them and how to write with them so that you can work towards creating a product for the employer you are working for. Being a Programmer is a very important role in the IT Field, it is pretty much the heart of all IT fields because without the program that operates the system or the network; the internet, the associated databases to the networks and the computer(s) themselves would be nothing. Computers would be nothing but a box of wires and circuit chips.
Just like any other trade you have to uphold a professional attitude so getting a minimum of an Associate’s Degree is preferred not just because of the training in the core instructions, but also the training in the core values meaning that you maintain a professional status by practicing a professional attitude, which comes as part of the college training/schooling. Taking certain classes such as Psychology, Sociology and Ethics trains you in the necessary soft skills needed in learning about the people you service as well as their behavior how to attract them to your establishment for service and how to just deal with them in general depending on their persona when they approach you in either a pleasant or not so pleasant manner. I feel that starting off with my associate’s degree will help me get my foot in the door, but getting a bachelor’s degree will bring me up to where I need to go if I want to pursue a career in the Engineering part of the IT field.
