Minutes by Allison Lawson
Pat Ulkins brought in the first donation check for Tom Annear’s painting/prints.
KimMarie described the event on the corner this afternoon with signs, and noted that Priscilla was concerned with getting the information out about when and where clearly. Cody suggested using the phone list to institute a phone tree.
Cody asked about the status on the icons/items for the windows (candle), and during the discussion Ben raised the question of how said items would be distributed. Kimmarie suggested we wait until after the New Year to have the distribution as an action. Any definite decisions made are thus tabled.
What are we doing over the break? Do a mailing using an image from the group to further get the word out, or a canvas of the area, businesses etc? Use this as publicity for the UU event in planning. Another suggestion – find a way to get it done as an insert in a paper (Penny Saver, etc). Find out how to canvas, any regulations.
Cody mentioned the day of action on January 17th, 2012 in Washington DC, and suggested people get together to go down. The question of lodging was also raised by KimMarie.
Vicky discussed the cutting of funding by Pomfret of the Fredonia senior center. Suggested people go to this week’s town meeting on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at 6pm.
Last week’s decision to alternate topics of meetings (business 1 week/discussion next) amended to business first, discussion after during meetings.
Cody suggested changing the focus of the advertisement to possibly bring in more people when we have events/discussions for the community. The ensuing discussion made the point that inherent in this is the question of the image of Occupy, and changing it. Also, Kim pointed out that we should formally form working groups on many of these issues.
What are we doing in the spring? Discussion of various ideas: something for earth day in April; a teach in at the college (maybe yes, maybe no); discussion of getting a room/rooms to show things monthly, show some at Green Tea Room, other places, tie things in with whatever’s going on, on campus already. Event suggested near time of New York primary.
Proposal for Occupy Fredonia to engage the FACE group @ SUNY Fredonia to connect with them concerning things both groups trying to do. Also coordinate with different groups on campus to run events parallel. – passed
We presented the Green Tea Room thank you note. Village & police will be done at the next meeting, December 12th, 2011 at 7:30pm. An email will be sent to find out how to get on the agenda.
Items available tonight to be retrieved at Sarah Hamilton’s
Next GA – Saturday January 28th, 2012, at 6pm, at Green Tea Room.
