As a professor, you are in a unique position to support the academic and personal development of the children in the Pinewoods community by encouraging your students to volunteer.
Many students find their experience at Oasis to be very rewarding and educational. For more information on how students in your particular discipline can gain valuable practice at Oasis, or with any other questions or concerns, please email us at A sample syllabus attachment can be found here

Here are just some of the benefits of sending your students to Oasis:
  • Service hours are recorded to the minute using a bio-metric hand scanning system, assisting with accurate service hour reporting.
  • You will be emailed a report of all of your students' hours at Oasis on a monthly basis to have an idea of student progress towards their service hour goals.
  • Students get hands-on experience applying skills learned in your classroom.
  • The program encourages students to work with the same children weekly, allowing them to form a valuable relationship with the children they tutor and learn about comparative effectiveness of various instructional styles.
  • Students are able to immerse themselves in Latino culture- right here in Athens!
  • Oasis Staff members are available to work closely with professors through correspondence and tours of the site.
  • Students are overseen by and receive support from office staff, trained to help them with any individual concerns and assist them in getting the most out of their tutoring experience.
  • The range of children, from 3 years old to 4th grade, allows students to practice skills in a variety of disciplines.
We hope to see many of your students at Oasis soon! Please email us with any questions you may have at
