Bongsu Bakery & Noodle Factory

As a part of their community welfare programme, the Bongsu congregation  operates a Bakery and Noodle Factory and  to provide food for children and the elderly. More than one metric ton of flour is processed each day. Bread and noodles are supplied free of charge to needy, orphanages and rest homes for the elderly.

During July/August 2010 the NZ DPRK Society raised funds from individuals and churches in New Zealand  to help the bakery. We asked them to provide funds with which to buy high quality wheat flour and to buy necessary items like pans, machinery, corn, soy-bean oil, soy milk, and powdered milk. 

The project was promoted and supported by the Asian Ministries Committee of the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand. 

It was a special moment in Pyongyang in September 2010 when the funds were personally handed over by Rev Richard Lawrence.  The following photos were taken on this occasion:
