Some Trustees were unable to make the meeting, so it was postponed. Stephen Robinson gave a report by email:
Essex County Council is continue to develop plans for new special schools, with the St Peter's site as one location. A business case is now being developed.
It seems unlikely that ECC could submit a planning application before March 2016. With an 18 month build time, that would make Sept 2017 opening almost impossible. Therefore Sept 2018 more likely.
Hopefully, though, there will be a plan for the site by the end of this year and thus a decision about how much of the site will be sold off. ECC Property Officers will discuss with Chelmsford City Council Planning Department what the Planners would like to see on the site.
There is no possibility of any of the site being used for anything short-term, while ECC make up their minds about the site.
Daniel Kenning had indicated that there is the possibility of an office building coming available later in the year, which could be used by one or more charities on a short-term basis.
Next meeting in late July, to be arranged.
