A Self-Replicating Elementary Cellular Automata Sequence.
Purpose:
To evolve a self-replicating Elementary Cellular Automata Sequence with directional control ability in 3 dimensions of space and 1 of time.
Method:
Using the 8 Wolfram Elementary Cellular Automata types.
Using combinations of the 8 Wolfram Elementary Cellular Automata types.
Using the principles of Langton’s Ant but adjusting the method of turning and colour change of previous location.
Rules:
For each type of the 8 Elementary Cellular Automata follow the following rules.
If the last square of the previous Elementary Cellular Automata is a red square turn 90° left.
Then install the next type of Elementary Cellular Automata.
If the last square of the previous Elementary Cellular Automata is a white square turn 90° right.
Then install the next type of Elementary Cellular Automata.
If the Elementary Cellular Automata sequence returns to its original start location then step the next Elementary Cellular Automata up one level and continue the rules.
Results:
The patterns produced are indicated in the following animations.
