Work Done and Efficiency

Work done

Work done refers to the amount of work an object has done.

When a force is applied to an object, the object moves a certain amount of distance.

The force multiplied by the distance = the amount of work done

Work done= Force * Distance

(J) = N*m

Work done is measured in Nm.

1Nm = 1J

Efficiency

Most of the time, not all of the energy applied to an object is used efficiently to get the result.

Some energy is transferred into other energy types

Eg. 100J to light bulb.. only 40J are used for light energy, 60J go to thermal energy.

To calculate the efficiency..

(Total input energy / total output energy) * 100%

Total input energy

Total output energy
