Written by John Steinbeck, Of Mice and Men is a novella that describes the story of two men, George and Lennie, and how they live in 1920s America during the Great Depression. Most people worked as farmers or ranchworkers (whatever the difference is) and fled from areas such as Texas to California because of the dustbowl (caused by overfarming). The story is a short one and explores themes such as the role of women at the time, loneliness, friendship, racism and hardship during the 1920s.
