A dental floss threader is a good way to remove plaque and debris when someone has braces or bridges. It is composed of a loop on one side in to which the thread is placed, and the other side is shaped like a needle so it’s easy to insert in between the teeth. The floss is inserted in between teeth just like when you are flossing the normal way.
The dental floss threader is good to use for:
People who have pontics (artificial teeth on bridges)
Around orthodontic appliances (braces)
Splinted teeth
When flossing under a bridge
To use a dental floss threader, you insert it from the edge that looks like a needle,. Begin by
inserting it from the area of the teeth that is closest to the cheeks and lips. It is then guided to the
other side of the tooth (where the tongue touches the teeth).once the floss is through it is made
into a “c” shape like when regularly flossing. The floss is used on the abutment tooth (tooth to
which the bridge is cemented). The same technique is used on the other abutment tooth.
