Munzee is a game that can be played in groups or played alone. There are so many aspects to the game that you can adapt to fit your lifestyle, your preferences and your situation.
While it is very helpful and fun to have more players in your area to build the map, it is possible to successfully play the game when you are the only player in town. Here are some tips to playing as a solo player, within the code of conduct.
Deploy! Deploy, deploy! To cap munzees, there must be munzees. While, for the most part, you can't cap your own deploys as original types, Munzee has adapted to make it so there are ways you can cap your own munzees. The more you deploy, the more chances to get bouncers to land, which you can cap. You can also cap scatters that land on your munzees. Also, the more you deploy, the more attractive your area is to others who may come to cap, and deploy some more. Deploying physicals can also lead to other people discovering the game when they spot a QR code. Make sure that once they join and look at the map, that there is a lot for them to cap. If they open up to an empty map, they may move on.
Build scatter pits. Deploy 3-4 greenies and then surround them with things that scatter. Elemental mysteries, catapults, joysticks, etc. If you magnetize an elemental, it will yield many scatters that you can cap on your own greenies. This is a great way to get physical caps and points! It's also a way to recap the same area multiple times.
Trade! The munzee community is very generous and loves to help players build their area. Trading is a win win situation. When players deploy for you, you get new things to cap and when you deploy for them, you are able to get capon points. The more you deploy, and the more places you deploy, the more your munzees start to work for you. Get others to deploy catapults and scattery things near your greenies! The Virtual Munzee Trade group on Facebook is a great place to ask for trades.
Trade for POIs. POIs can be capped daily.
Build gardens. This is a good way to get others to deploy in your area. Build gardens with a variety of types to attract a variety of bouncers. Build gardens with types that scatter and then deploy greenies to catch the scatters. I have built several gardens with catapults and then deployed greenies underneath. This is extremely helpful for increasing physical caps and opening qrates. Build a garden near your house if you can, with as many types as you an include. Gardens also give you a POI. They are helpful when there isn't another attraction nearby that qualifies for a POI. If you don't know how to build a garden, ask for help. Be willing to trade and invest in other gardens as well.
Deploy Treehouses and Skylands. If you can, make a trail of them. You can cap your own each day. So that helps with physical cap requirements, plus brings you bouncers.
Recruit! Talk to your family and friends. Get them to play with you!
Host an event. This is a good way to attract others to your area, get people to deploy and with an event account, you can deploy 50 pins to help you and your guests out!
If you live near a major interstate or road, deploy things that scatter. If travellers cap them, they often leave scatters behind that you can collect.
If you join a clan, communicate with your fellow clanmates. Work together, trade, help each other be successful. A good clan will work as a team. While my family and I are fortunate to live in a fairly active area and have local clanmates, both of our clans have players that do not have other local players. We try to deploy things for them each month to help out with requirements. In turn they deploy here as well. Everyone wins that way!
If you can travel, look for other areas where you can cap. Be sure to deploy some there as well. It's good to give back to the game and by deploying in active areas, you reap capon points.
Encourage others to visit your town to deploy. You can even host an event for that purpose. We have held a few map building events where the purpose of the event was not to cap but to deploy and build up the map for the players who lived there. A nice event badge might be a good incentive for that.
Take advantage of qrewzees. This may take some time if no one has ever played in your area. But this is also where deploying pays off in the end. Go for the 100 greenies in a day badge, build clusters, etc. Hopefully this will attract others, but if not, you have now built up your qrewzee cluster for the next year. The majority of the qrewzees that I cap are on Munzees that I have deployed over the years. I have covered my city in munzees and now I am able to go back and cap them again.
Remember that this is a game that you invest in. And, unless you are in a high traffic area, it will take time and patience to build your game. You may need to start off in lower level clans, or concentrate on zeeops, or even just personal goals for a bit. But if you just keep deploying and trading, eventually the game will be come easier. We all had to start somewhere and most of us have to work hard to make our area work for us.
Have fun, work with the community, be patient.
