Rules for Naming Polyatomic Ionic Compounds

1. Name the cation's full name

2. If the cation is a transitional metal, use a Roman Numeral to indicate its charge

3. Name the polyatomic anion

4. If the ionic compound contains two polyatomic ions, use both names for the ionic compound

Cation is named before anion.
