Things To Do Before Class Begins
- All your written work should be formatted using MLA formatting style. You can find a nice link to formatting in MLA here, and should read it and become familiar with it. You may even wish to print some of this out for future reference.
- Compile a three-ring notebook with lined paper and section dividers for:
- Notes
- Class Outlines
- Handouts
- Homework
- Other Graded work
- Copy Work
- Purchase a bound journal with lined pages.
- Every week, please bring the following to class with you:
- Your binder, with blank paper and all things handed out in class filed in appropriate sections
- Your commonplace book (journal)
- A dictionary
- Pencils and pens to write with
- A ruler
- Before our first day of class
Weekly Expectations for Composition I
- I expect all students and adults in the classroom will be treated respectfully and that our class will be a safe environment where grace abounds and we can share with one another free of ridicule or teasing. Be good listeners, and treat others as you would like to be treated.
- I expect all work turned in by you will represent your own, original work. You should not work with others unless directed specifically to do so. Your parents, siblings, or friends may comment upon your work, but what is turned in must be your own words and thoughts, not theirs.
