Australia Illustrated Timeline Directions

Step 1: Read either the first 5 or last 5 pages of the article “A Brief History of Australia.” As you read, highlight the MAIN POINTS of the history of Australia.

Step 2: With one other person who read the same section as you, pick the 10 most important dates from your portion of the reading. Make sure that you write down the dates, events and a brief description of each.

Step 3: Now, you will work with one other person who read the portion of the article that you DID NOT. Explain each of your 10 events to your partner (you are responsible for knowing about each event).

Step 4: Together, you will put your combined 20 items on an illustrated timeline.

Step 5: When creating your illustrated timeline, be sure to do the following:

a. Space the events out appropriately on the timeline.

b. List the dates, event and a brief description of the event.

c. Illustrate any 15 of the 20 events. These can be hand-drawn or cut out of magazines.

Step 6: Be prepared to defend your timeline/events.

GOOD LUCK!
