Dragon's Boast

I am stronger than lightning;

stones crack before me;

Waters part,

and the winds are scattered!

My scales shine

in the stars every night,

My voice is heard

in the wildest blows,

My trifurcate tongue,

electricity’s self!

When I clap my wings,

the clouds gather;

Let me breathe a little,

and I bring the rain.

I was born from a stone

on the banks of a river;

When I rose to heaven,

the rains poured down.

Where my shadow falls,

there is shade for hours;

Where my claws pierce the ground,

there is clean black soil.

I can plough hectares

and pull down peaks;

I can smother a wildfire

and smell ten years’ scent.

Harpoons and javelins

break their points against me;

Set a hook in my jaw,

and I can haul you off!

What powers of yours

compare with me?

Fire on me,

and your fate is sealed!
