Reimagining

Dancer and tree, the now and the then, in harmony at the Lakulish mandir.

She treads the measure, tradition renewing,

Swift steady steps before stone instructors,

Motionless models of many movements,

Lithe, light-footed, before the Lord’s gallery.

Like a jasmine blossom on the young winds whirling,

She spins and twirls past the scenes of old,

Enlivens them in leaps and bounds,

Stirs carven stone with each step she takes.
