Power High 6
Kitsu awoke the next morning to his alarm and went into the bathroom to freshen up. He noticed Miwaku was washing his face and putting on some cologne. Kitsu grabbed a washcloth off the rack and put it under some warm water. Miwaku looked excited about something.
"Hey Kitsu. I bet you can't wait for the festival today." Miwaku said.
"Oh, right! I completely forgot!" Kitsu replied.
"It is great. There is lots of free food, lots of side attractions, and I've heard they even set up a haunted house this year! I think this year's festival will be the best one yet!" Miwaku said.
"I hope so. It starts at eight, right?" Kitsu asked.
"Yea, I'll see you there." Miwaku said as he walked out of the bathroom.
Kitsu finished washing up and walked out of the bathroom. He noticed Yuurei was still sound asleep. He walked over to her and nudged her.
"It's almost 8:00. You don't want to miss the festival do you?" Kitsu said cheerfully.
"I'll meet you there Kitsu, just let me sleep some more." Yuurei said sleepily.
"Alright. You look like you could use the extra sleep anyhow." Kitsu said as he walked off.
He made his way down to the courtyard and was surprised at what he saw. Hundreds of booths and activities were set up all across the massive courtyard. Benzaiten had his DJ booth set up and was blasting upbeat music all throughout the courtyard, mostly playing some of his favorite remixes. Kitsu spotted Kaze over by the zeppoli stand. He made his way over to her, fighting through the crowds to get there.
"Hey Kaze." Kitsu yelled over the music.
"Hi Kitsu. Training is canceled for today because of the festival. That and I have some other arrangements. I'm representing the martial arts club in our booth. A group of us switch off, fighting any challengers. I'm on my break now but I have to hurry back soon. Feel free to stop by if you want to test your skills." Kaze said as she finished up the last of her zeppolies.
Kitsu made his way through the crowds and saw Bekutoru working on some big project. He was typing on his laptop, which was hooked up to what seemed like thousands of cords leading to the lights strung all throughout the festival. Kitsu walked over to him.
"Finished!" he said as he hit the enter key on his laptop.
All of the lights burst to life in vibrant color. They began rotating and swiveling, shining into the sky.
"You probably wont see how beautiful this all is until nightfall. I wanted to get it out of the way early so I could enjoy myself during the day." Bekutoru said happily.
"So, what do you plan on doing next?" Kitsu asked.
"I was actually thinking of checking out that martial arts display. I've always enjoyed a good fight, as long as I'm not the one in it that is." Bekutoru said with a laugh.
"Alright, lets head on over there." Kitsu said.
The two of them made their way over to the martial arts display. Boruto was fighting against one of the people in the martial arts club. He had about the same build as Boruto and seemed to have more of a wrestling style to his fighting. Before they could even see what happened, Boruto was pinned to the ground. A bell rang signaling the end of the match and Boruto walked out of the ring.
Kitsu decided to try his luck. He walked up the steps and into the ring. A petite young girl from the club stepped into the ring to face him. She had long light brown hair which was tied into a ponytail. She had deep hazel eyes and what looked like the face of a child. Kitsu prepared to fight as the bell rang, starting the match. The girl ran in at him with lightning speed and threw a quick hook. Kitsu blocked it and countered, but she had already gotten up against him, grabbing the arm he blocked with. Before he knew what hit him, Kitsu found himself flying through the air. Kitsu landed hard, but got back up on his feet. The girl rushed Kitsu again. He dropped to one knee and made a low punch. She jumped over him and landed behind him. Kitsu turned around and threw a punch. She blocked and hopped back a bit. Kitsu charged at her and threw another strong punch. She grabbed his arms and braced her foot up against his chest. She fell backwards and flung Kitsu through the air with her foot. Kitsu looked over to the side and noticed Kaze had returned from her break. She was watching him fight. He sprung to his feet and gathered his strength. The girl rushed in and he waited for her to get within range. Kitsu threw a quick punch and sent her flying across the ring. The members of the club watched in amazement. They began to murmur amongst themselves as the girl rose to her feet. Just as she was about to charge forward again, the bell rang and ended the match. As Kitsu walked out of the ring, he noticed Yuurei was climbing in.
"Go easy on them." Kitsu whispered to her.
"I know, don't worry. I don't plan on killing anyone while I'm here." Yuurei replied.
Yuurei climbed into the ring and Kaze stepped in to meet her challenge. They bowed to each other as the bell rang. Kaze rushed forward with a flurry of punches and kicks. Yuurei blocked all of them and countered. Kaze blocked it, but slid back a few feet. Yuurei was suddenly right in front of her ready to hit with a side kick. Kaze dodged and landed a Ki-strike to Yuurei's chest. Kaze's jaw dropped as the punch barely made Yuurei flinch.
"What is she. Where is she getting this immeasurable power from!" Kaze thought to herself as she continued dodging and countering.
Yuurei rushed in with a slashing strike with her nails. Kaze blocked it, but was sent flying by a punch to the side. Kaze slowly rose to her feet and noticed Yuurei had somehow gotten behind her.
"Damn! She's using the shadows to move again!" Kaze thought to herself as she rolled forward to get away from Yuurei.
The bell finally rang, ending the match. Kaze sat down outside the ring and downed an entire bottle of water. Yuurei walked out of the ring with a smirk on her face as the club members just stared at her in disbelief.
Kitsu started to explore the festival some more. He bought a hamburger and made his way over to a booth decorated with hearts all over it. He noticed Miwaku waiting in line to enter.
"Hey Miwaku. What is this place exactly?" Kitsu asked.
"It's the kissing booth. It gives you and one other person total privacy for one minute. Of course, because of the fence separating the lines, you have no clue who you are going to be paired up with." Miwaku said.
"No wonder you were so excited this morning." Kitsu said with a laugh.
"You should try this out though." Miwaku said.
"I've already got enough girls fighting over me as is." Kitsu said.
"Who knows, you might get paired with Anei." Miwaku said.
"Alright. I mean, whats the worst that can happen." Kitsu said as he got in line behind Miwaku.
After waiting in line for twenty minutes, Kitsu finally walked inside. It was dark, with dim red lights being the only source of light. Someone else walked in. He couldn't tell who it was, but her body shape seemed familiar, almost a bit too familiar. She walked closer and sat down next to him. It was Meisaku.
"Talk about awkward...." Kitsu thought to himself.
"Hey Kitsu. Didn't expect to see you here. Enjoying yourself?" she asked.
"Yea. I'm having a great time so far." Kitsu replied nervously.
"Maybe I can help make it even better." Meisaku said as she leaned in to kiss him.
Kitsu fought the urge to stop her and tell her who she really was as she began holding him close to her and kissing his neck. He sat there for what seemed like the longest minute of his life. The buzzer finally rang, letting them know the minute was up and it was time to get out.
"What the hell was Bekutoru thinking when he made that AI?" Kitsu thought to himself.
Kitsu walked outside and breathed a sigh of relief as he made his way towards the soft drink stand. On his way over he saw Waza waving to him.
"Hey Kitsu! Got a minute?" she called over to him.
"Sure." he called back as he made his way through the crowds.
Waza motioned for him to take a seat in the chair in front of her. Kitsu sat down and looked at her. She was wearing those over sized jean shorts that made her look like a farmer. She started drawing on her easel, looking up at Kitsu from time to time.
"Its been a while. I guess we've both been so busy lately that we haven't had much time to talk. How have you been?" Waza asked.
"Not bad, but I've been better. How about you?" Kitsu replied.
"I'm doing okay. It just seems like we've been growing apart lately. You're constantly running all over the place, and no one has been able to catch you in one spot long enough to have a decent chat. You know what I mean?" she said.
"Yea, I know. I just have a lot going on right now. I haven't even had any time to myself." Kitsu replied.
"What do you think?" Waza said as she turned the easel around.
Waza had drawn the perfect portrait of Kitsu. It was precise to even the slightest detail. She was even able to capture the cheerful gleam in Kitsu's eye, his entire state of mind. Kitsu's jaw dropped with amazement.
"Wow! That looks amazing!" Kitsu said awestruck.
"Thanks. Well, here you go." Waza said as she went to hand the portrait to Kitsu.
"No, I want you to keep it. Who knows, it might come in handy." Kitsu said with a grin.
"Well, it was nice seeing you again Kitsu." Waza said.
"Same here. I'll catch up with you later." Kitsu said as he walked off.
As Kitsu continued his way towards the soft drink stand, he noticed the scent of incense. He looked over to see where the aroma was coming from. There was someone lying out on a lawn-chair with a flashlight by his side, surrounded by burning incense. He had long, curly brown hair that flew off in all directions, and wore thick glasses. He was blasting Greatful Dead through his boom box.
Kitsu made his way over to the soft drink stand. He noticed Anei sitting off to the side looking a bit depressed. He grabbed a soda and sat down next to her. She looked up at him, her eyes all red. She had obviously been crying.
"Oh, hi Kitsu." she said as she rubbed her eyes.
"Whats wrong Anei?" Kitsu asked.
"Well, it feels like you don't talk to me anymore. You're always so busy with things that you don't have time for anyone anymore really. It worries me." she replied.
"I know I've been busy, I've had a lot going on right now. I'm here now though." Kitsu said.
"Can I ask you something?" Anei said, her hand beginning to tremble.
"Sure. What is it?" Kitsu replied.
"Do you love me?" Anei asked.
Kitsu was dumbfounded.
"Why am I so surprised. I knew she liked me from the very start! What to say, what to say..... might as well just tell her the truth." Kitsu thought to himself.
"I really don't know. It's still to early for me to decide just yet. I know there's something between us, I'm just not sure what it is yet. Give me some time, alright?" Kitsu replied.
"O-okay......" Anei said hesitantly.
"I have to get going. It was nice talking to you again." Kitsu said as he got to his feet.
Kitsu started walking towards the massive haunted house attraction at the back of the courtyard. For once there wasn't a massive crowd he had to fight through, and the entryway to the eerie mansion seemed fairly empty. He felt someone wrap their arms around him. Kitsu turned, a bit startled, to find Yuurei behind him.
"Yuurei, what are you doing?" Kitsu asked.
"Just having a little fun is all. That and I'm hungry." she said.
"Might as well check out the haunted house while we're here. That and it should give us enough cover. We don't want anyone else finding about your addiction." Kitsu said.
"Sounds fair enough." Yuurei said with a smile.
They walked through the massive doorway into the haunted house. Yuurei began sucking on Kitsu's hand as they walked through the dimly lit halls. Lights began to flicker and animatronic ghosts fell down from above, hanging inches above their heads. They continued through the halls to find other uninspired monsters popping up at the most expected places.
"I've been meaning to ask you something. About the other night, what were you so troubled about? You seemed so happy just moments before." Kitsu asked.
"Well, it's a long story really, but I guess I've kept this to myself for so long I feel like it's been eating away at me. You see, it all began about 200 years ago. My blood lust made me an outcast, and some people even thought of me as a threat to society and wanted me dead. Darius was the only one who actually cared about me..."
Yuurei started to cry again, but fought back her tears.
"The townspeople accused him of treason, but luckily no one believed them. That's when someone took things into their own hands and murdered him."
Yuurei got quiet, now starting to quiver with both sadness and rage.
"I found his body strung up on the monument at the center of town. Before I knew what I was doing, I had obliterated everything around me in hopes of getting my revenge. It's not something I'm proud of, but there isn't anything I can do to change the past. That's when I decided to come to this school and hopefully lay low for a while. With some training, I prayed there would never be another day like that one."
Kitsu just listened in awe, surprised at her tragic past.
"After watching you for that first week you came here, your actions were similar to what Darius would have done in those same situations. That's when I decided to reveal myself. If I didn't take that chance then, I might never have found someone like you ever again. "
"And so that's why you were so forward when we first met, right?"
"Yea, but you kinda freaked, so I started to get worried. Things worked out in the end though."
As they reached the exit to the house, a loud roaring sound blasted through the room. They rushed outside to see what was going on.
As they looked up, they saw what appeared to be a massive flying fortress hovering high above the courtyard. The bottom of the fortress opened to reveal a massive laser cannon. Everyone began to scatter and head for the school building except for Kitsu and Yuurei. Just then, an all too familiar voice echoed across the courtyard.
"Hello again! How long has it been since my last visit, about two weeks? I'm here for someone special this time. Yuurei, your head shall be mine! I don't care how many innocent people have to die anymore, it will all be for the greater good!" the voice boomed.
"He's finally snapped. I should have known better than to get involved with this." the administrator though to himself as he watched from his office.
The laser cannon began to charge up for its shot. A strong wind blew throughout the courtyard, ripping trees from the ground and tearing appart most of the stands set up for the festival. Yuurei began preparing her defensive spell, hoping that she could pull it off in time.
"Where have I heard that voice before...." Kitsu thought to himself as he ducked and oncoming tree limb.
The laser looked as though it was just about ready to fire. Yuurei muttered something under her breath as a blanket of darkness covered the cannon. The cannon fired right into the dark energy. A tiny fragment of the laser broke through, quickly striking the earth below. Kitsu and Yuurei were thrown back by the blast. When the dust cleared, the shot had left a crater the size of the entire courtyard. Yuurei grew wings once more and hovered above Kitsu's head.
"Grab onto my ankles, and try not to look up my skirt. It might not be the best idea to look down either." Yuurei said.
"So where am I supposed to look." Kitsu exclaimed.
"Hell, just close your eyes and hang on!" Yuurei said as she took off towards the fortress.
