Power High 4
Kitsu woke up the next morning, dreading his first day of class. Everyone was hurrying to get ready. All the girls seemed to be ready, except for Yuurei, who was still sound asleep. Kitsu walked over to her.
"Hey, sleeping beauty, time to wake up." he said as he gave her a nudge.
She slowly opened her eyes and looked over to the clock.
"Whats the big idea waking me this early! It's six in the morning!" she yelled.
"First day of class, remember. Oh wait, I forgot, you haven't been required to go to class for the past 200 years. Well now that you're up, you might as well come along." Kitsu said.
"Ugh, fine. At least I'll get some practice with this body. Lord knows, I need it." she said as she crawled out of bed rubbing her eyes.
Kitsu walked into the bathroom to freshen up. He saw Miwaku and Boruto were doing the same.
"Hey Kitsu, ready for the first day of class?" Miwaku asked energetically.
"You never looked like one to get excited about learning, there's got to be more to this." Kitsu replied.
"Well, my class group will be learning how to effectively use our powers. That and I'm the only guy in my class." Miwaku said as a huge grin came across his face.
"The teacher will probably have you work with him then, knowing you." Kitsu replied.
"Thats the best part! Even the teacher is a hot chick!" Miwaku said, getting more and more excited.
"So, how do classes work here anyway?" Kitsu asked.
"Well, we all go down to room 322 to get our classroom assignments. All of us are grouped according to our abilities. There is no doubt you and Bekutoru will be put together in a class, since you're both technology oriented. So every day you would first go to room 322 for announcements, and then head over to your classroom. Class lasts a good five hours, but it's not bad once you get used to it. That and usually the teachers give you breaks." Boruto replied.
"Wow, this is nothing like the way we did things in my old school." Kitsu said as he put a washcloth to his face.
"I'll see you at room 322 Kitsu." Miwaku said as her walked out of the bathroom.
Kitsu finished up and made his way to room 322. He walked in and took a seat next to Yuurei. A voice came over the PA system.
"Welcome to your first day of class. The room assignments are on the desk at the front of the room. Find your assignment and head to class." the voice said.
Everyone crowded around the sheet of paper. Kitsu found his name and noticed his class was in 215. Yuurei grabbed Kitsu as he was walking out.
"My name isn't on the list. I thought as much. Might as well head back up to the room." she said.
"Go ask the administrator about it. He should know what to do." Kitsu said.
He made his way down the stairs and over to room 215. He took a seat next to Bekutoru and waited for the teacher to walk in. He looked over to Bekutoru who was working on his laptop.
"So, what exactly is class like?" Kitsu asked.
"It's really fun actually. We spend five hours honing our skills. The teacher has general experience and insight in all of our abilities so he does help us improve, but it's mostly a five hour training session really." Bekutoru said.
While Kitsu and the others waited for their teacher, Yuurei was already on her way down to the administrator's office. She opened the oak doors and had a seat in front of his desk.
"Yuurei. Well, this is a surprise. What are you doing here?" the administrator said hesitantly, reaching down towards the shotgun under his desk.
"I'm here for my room assignment." Yuurei said bluntly.
"What? Now thats a surprise. You still hold the school record for the most truancy. I'm a bit shocked you are actually interested in going to class." the administrator said.
"Alot can change in 200 years. So, do you have a room assignment for me or not?" Yuurei said as she leaned forward.
"Well, you see, the last employee we had that could teach someone of your caliber left quite some time ago. Considering the circumstances, I am going to just let you choose for yourself what you want to do with your time. If any other experienced instructors come along, you will be the first to know." the administrator said as he breathed a sigh of relief.
Yuurei left the room and walked back upstairs. She made her way back to room 502 and changed back into her nightgown. She climbed into bed and fell back to sleep.
At about 7:30 AM, the teacher walked into room 215. He was a short plump man with bright orange curly hair that seemed to have a life of its own. His white jacket looked like it was about to burst open any minute, since it was obviously a few sizes too small. He took a seat at the desk in the front of the room. He looked through some papers and then looked up at the class.
"Good morning everyone. I am professor Za Bo-ru and I will be your instructor for the rest of the year. Today I will try to get a feel for where each of you are in terms of skill, so I invite you to use this time to work on whatever your heart desires." he said, overjoyed at the start of the school year.
Kitsu began working on a mod that would act as a shield. He began carving the shape of the shield and drawing out the plans for the arm band it would be attached to. The pieces were meticulously screwed and welded together. In the end, it looked like a normal bracelet with a large gem in the center, but with the push of a button, a metal shield burst forth from the gem.
Professor Za Bo-ru watched Kitsu intently. He realized Kitsu was a genius, considering he finished building the mod in about an hour. The professor made some notes on one of the papers he had brought along with him and continued looking around the class to see how everyone else was making out.
The bell finally rang, and everyone bolted for the door to head back to their rooms. Kitsu made his way back up to 502 and opened the door. He saw Yuurei sound asleep on her bed. He walked over to her and nudged her.
"Can't you just let me sleep." she complained as she pulled the blankets over her head.
"Did you at least see the administrator?" Kitsu asked.
"Yes, there is no one who can teach me anything so I have time to do whatever I want. I decided to sleep, because you woke me up so early." she replied, starting to get agitated.
"I'll let you get back to sleep then." Kitsu said as he walked towards the bathroom.
Kitsu walked into the bathroom and started to freshen up after a long day. There was a clanking noise overhead. Kitsu looked up but there was nothing.
"Must be the heating vent turning on." he thought to himself as he continued what he was doing.
As he walked out of the bathroom, Kitsu saw Yuurei shivering in bed.
"Yuurei, are you alright?" Kitsu asked as he ran over to her.
She turned towards him and he was shocked at what he saw. Her eyes had turned blood red, and one of her fangs was growing uncontrollably. Kitsu jumped back, a bit startled.
"Hand...........NOW!" Yuurei said as she grabbed Kitsu's wrist.
She bit into his hand and began sucking on the wound. Her eyes started to turn back to their normal shade of green and her fangs began to recede. She calmed down a bit and stopped sucking for a moment.
"Withdrawal is hell." she said as she went back to sucking on Kitsu's hand.
"Why didn't you just grab a bag from the mini fridge, and speaking of which, where is it anyway?" Kitsu asked, a bit confused as to how the mini fridge just happened to dissappear.
"I haven't the slightest, I've been sleeping, remember?" Yuurei replied.
"So now how are you going to get blood?" Kitsu asked more to himself than to Yuurei.
"The good old fashioned way." she replied with a smile.
"I guess there aren't many other options, considering the mini fridge is gone. Just don't get carried away with this." Kitsu said.
Yuurei continued sucking on Kitsu's hand while he started sketching out more schematics. Just then, the door opened. Anei stood in the doorway with a look of total disbelief. Yuurei started to blush as she quickly detached herself from Kitsu's hand. Anei's face started to turn red with anger. Tears starting to roll down her cheeks, she ran out of the room.
"Anei, wait! This isn't what it looks like!" Kitsu yelled, but it was too late. Anei was already gone.
"This isn't good." Kitsu said, starting to get a bit depressed.
"Why don't you just tell her the truth?" Yuurei suggested cheerfully.
"You think she's really going to believe the truth? Not likely." Kitsu said as he rubbed his forehead.
"What if I bite her. Maybe then she'll believe the truth." Yuurei said with a grin.
"You'll do no such thing!" Kitsu said, starting to get aggravated with the whole situation.
"Lighten up, can't you take a joke?" Yuurei said apologetically.
"I have to think of something to straighten things out with Anei." Kitsu said to himself.
Kitsu thought about the situation all day, unable to get it out of his head. Anei wouldn't speak to him at all for the rest of the day. Kitsu looked at his clock and noticed it was getting late. He walked into the bathroom, freshened up, changed and lied down. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't fall asleep. He looked at his clock, which read 2:00 AM. Kitsu climbed out of bed and walked to the bathroom. As he turned on the lights, he noticed someone standing over Yuurei in the reflection of the mirror. He turned around and ran towards the intruder. He threw a hook to the face, but she grabbed his arm and threw him against the wall.
He could get a better look at her now. She wore a tight black ninja garb with black cloth wrapped around her face. She stood at about Kitsu's height. She started running towards Kitsu, drawing her katana in the process. Kitsu pushed a button on his new mod and opened the shield. He blocked her swing and countered with a kick. She hopped out of the way, grabbing his leg in the process, pulled him to the floor, and put her sword to his throat.
"What are you trying to do, be some sort of hero? Give it up kid, I would have killed you by now if my orders would allow for it. Consider yourself lucky." she said as she put her katana back in its sheath.
"Who are you anyway?" Kitsu asked.
"Most people know me as Yaiba the slayer, and rightly so. I have some business to take care of, so stay out of my way." she said as she turned around.
She was surprised when she found herself face to face with Yuurei, who had awoken during all the commotion. Yuurei was surrounded by a thick black aura.
"Leave now, and don't come back. And give the one who sent you a message for me. Tell him I'm not in a good mood, and he would do well not to make it any worse." Yuurei said through gritted teeth.
Yaiba went to draw her katana, but Yuurei was expecting that. She fired a beam of energy, burning Yaiba's hand. Yaiba quickly ran into the bathroom and leaped up into the ventilation shaft, making her escape.
"You okay?" Kitsu asked.
"I'm the one who should be asking you that. You were the one taking the beating." she replied.
Everyone was still sound asleep. Kitsu and Yuurei climbed back into their beds and tried to fall asleep. Kitsu still couldn't get his mind off of what happened with Anei. He finally fell off to sleep after another hour or so.
The alarm clock went off bright and early at 6:00 AM. Kitsu woke up and noticed everyone was still sound asleep, all except for Anei, who was nowhere in sight. Kitsu washed up and got ready for class. He walked out of the bathroom and grabbed his bag of tools. On his way out, he stopped over by Yakedo.
"You haven't seen Anei around anywhere have you?" Kitsu asked.
"Nope. She's been gone since I woke up this morning. I wonder if she is taking a walk in the courtyard, I know she usually goes there when she feels down." Yakedo said.
"Thanks, I'll look into it." Kitsu said as he ran out the door.
"I wonder if telling him that was the best idea, considering how she hasn't spoken to him since yesterday. I hope I didn't end up making things worse." Yakedo thought to herself.
Kitsu ran off towards the courtyard as fast as he could. He bolted down the stairs to the first floor and out the back door into the wide open grassy field. He looked around but Anei was nowhere in sight.
"Up here boy!" a voice called down to him.
Kitsu turned around and looked up towards the balcony. It was Yaiba. She was standing on the guard rail of the balcony, perfectly balanced, holding Anei by her ankles as she flailed about fearing for her life.
"Let her go!" Kitsu yelled.
"Fine by me." Yaiba said calmly as she released Anei's ankles.
"Kitsu! Help!" Anei screamed as she plummeted towards the ground.
Kitsu powered up his rocket blades and rushed over to Anei. He dove out underneath her and broke her fall.
"Are you okay?" Kitsu asked.
"Yea, thanks to you." she replied, tears rolling down her face.
Kitsu and Anei got to their feet and Anei ran back inside.
"She is lucky you got here when you did. With all her screaming, my patience was starting to wear thin. I thought I might have had to silence her before you even showed up." Yaiba said with a laugh as she leaped from the balcony, landing a few feet away from Kitsu.
"Damn you!" Kitsu yelled as he ran at Yaiba.
He started throwing punches left and right. Yaiba parried his strikes flawlessly as he continued his relentless assault. Finally, she saw an opening. She grabbed his arm and pulled him into her, landing a strong elbow strike to the chest. Kitsu fell to the ground, completely out of breath.
"What the hell are you thinking? You're no where near strong enough to take her on your own! Just leave this one to me." a voice called from behind.
Kitsu looked over to see Yuurei standing in the doorway of the school. Yaiba drew two hand axes and stared at Yuurei.
"It's between you and me now." Yaiba said as she kicked the still gasping Kitsu aside.
Yuurei began to well up with rage. A thick black aura enveloped her as she floated into the air. Kitsu looked on in amazement as she grew massive wings resembling those of a bat. She began to laugh as she soared above Yaiba. The skies grew unnaturally dark as Yuurei began meditating. Yaiba put the axes away and took out a set of throwing knives. Yuurei ducked and weaved through the air dodging the knives, laughing all the while.
Kitsu began to shuffle backwards, because unbeknownst to Yaiba, a massive magic circle had appeared on the ground below her. Yuurei opened her eyes and began to mutter something. Yaiba finally noticed what was going on, but it was to late. She quickly threw a knife at Kitsu, barely clipping his leg.
"Geo, lord of the earth, feast upon this poor soul!" Yuurei said as the ground began to quake.
A massive earth spike crashed up through the magic circle, impaling Yaiba. Yuurei began to laugh maniacally as the spike receded back into the ground with Yaiba still on it. The ground closed back up, swallowing Yaiba into the earth's endless subterranean abyss.
Yuurei looked at her nails as she floated back down to the ground.
"Oh great, I broke a nail. I guess it comes with being alive again though." Yuurei said with a sigh.
"Wait, are you saying that you barely broke a sweat during that whole fight?" Kitsu asked surprised.
"First off, girls don't sweat, and second, I wish who ever is sending these goons would send someone competent. It's getting boring." she replied as she walked back inside the school.
Kitsu looked at the clock and realized it was long past 8:00 and that he was extremely late for class. He ran for room 215 while trying to think of a reasonable explanation for why he was late. He barged into the room panting and out of breath.
"Sorry I'm late, I was...." Kitsu began.
"We know Kitsu, we saw it all from up here. How noble of you to go out of your way to save Anei, but trying to fight off that assailant was incredibly stupid. If you could please see me after class that would be great, I have some things I'd like to discuss with you." Za Bo-ru interrupted, sounding quite concerned.
Kitsu worked diligently for the remaining class time until the bell finally rang. He stayed after class just as he was instructed to. Za Bo-ru walked over to him.
"This is about me being late, isn't it?" Kitsu asked.
"Far from it. I enjoyed watching you fight, although your technique could use some work. I was thinking of helping you out a bit." Za Bo-ru replied.
"What did you have in mind?" Kitsu replied.
"Martial arts training." Za Bo-ru said enthusiastically.
"Wait, you teach martial arts? It sure doesn't look that way to me." Kitsu interupted.
"Let me finish. I know some talented fighters who would be glad to help you out. One of them you might have already met actually. Her name is Kaze, she is in room 503. I don't think getting her to agree to train you will be a problem." Za Bo-ru said.
"I'll ask her tonight then." Kitsu replied.
"I'm afraid that won't be possible. She is out at a tournament and won't be back until late tonight, and by then she'll just want sleep more than anything. I'd wait until tomorrow if I were you. Thats all, you can go now." Za Bo-ru said.
Kitsu walked back up to room 502. On his way there, he suddenly felt weak, and collapsed on the floor. When he awoke, he found himself lying on a bed in the school clinic, Yuurei asleep across his chest. Koori and Yakedo were sitting in chairs at the end of the room. They noticed he was awake and walked over to him.
"What happened?" Kitsu asked.
"You've been out cold for the past day or two. We were all really worried about you. This is actually the first time we've been able to see you since then though." Koori replied.
"Huh? Why wouldn't the medical staff let anyone see me?"
"It had nothing to do with the staff, and they couldn't even get near you. Yuurei nursed you back to health herself, and wouldn't let anyone interfere. Looks like she really cares about you. Never saw her as the type to go out of her way to help anyone." Yakedo said.
Yuurei slowly opened her eyes and let out a yawn. She looked up and realized that Kitsu was awake.
"You're awake! For a while I thought you might never wake up." she said as she wrapped her arms around Kitsu.
"We'll give you two some time alone." Yakedo said as she and Koori left the room.
"So, what happened to me?" Kitsu asked.
"I wish I had noticed your cut sooner. You're lucky that knife barely scratched your leg. Yaiba always treats her blades with poison. If the wound had been just a little deeper, you would have been in much worse shape." Yuurei replied.
"So, what exactly did you do to treat that poison. It's not like you had an antidote."
"I simply sucked the poison out of the wound. Luckily it hadn't had a chance to travel too far, so there's only a small amount left that your body should be able to fight off on its own."
Anei walked over to him and sat down in the chair next to his bed. She stared into his eyes.
"Kitsu, about what happened..." she began.
"Don't worry, I'm feeling much better now." Kitsu replied.
"Well, I just wanted to thank you again for saving me. I wish I wasn't such a burden on you like that." Anei said as a tear came to her eye.
"Kitsu, that reminds me, since you were poisoned, I was afraid of ingesting it earlier. Now that it seems to be mostly gone, give me your hand please." Yuurei said.
"Can this wait? This isn't the best time." Kitsu said.
"Unless you want me to get my fix from someone else I suggest you give me your hand. I haven't had a drink since before you passed out." Yuurei replied with a smirk.
"Fine, here." Kitsu said as he held out his hand.
Yuurei went about her business, biting his hand and sucking on the wound while Anei watched on in shock.
"What is she doing?" Anei asked, a bit disturbed at what she was seeing.
"I might as well tell you, since you seemed to have gotten the wrong impression before. You see, I have a bit of an addiction to blood. Thats where Kitsu comes in. He's the only one who knew about all this, so thats why he is the only one I've been getting blood from. Do you understand?" Yuurei said calmly.
"I-I-I think so..." Anei stuttered still feeing uncomfortable with the whole situation.
"Hope this cleared things up between us Anei. I've been trying to think of how to explain all of it to you since yesterday." Kitsu said.
"It was more like three days ago, you've been unconcious for a while, remember?" Yuurei hinted with a smirk.
"It's okay, I understand what's going on now. I am a bit grossed out over it though, just looks so disgusting." Anei said, a bit calmer now.
"You don't see me commenting on your eating habits do you." Yuurei said through gritted teeth.
Anei started to back away.
"I'm going to get going now, I'll see you later Kitsu." Anei said as she left the room.
"Now that we're alone again, I can fill you in on a few more things. First of all, there is a group that has been trying to get rid of me for centuries, that is where all these assailants have been coming from. They thought I would be harmless as a spirit but someone must have tipped them off to my presence, since they sent Ryoushi soon after. They won't stop until I'm dead. That is why I'm going to go after them." Yuurei said.
"Wait, so you know where they are?" Kitsu asked.
"No, thats the only thing stopping me at the moment." Yuurei replied.
"Maybe we can get it out of the next person to come after you." Kitsu suggested.
"Sounds like a great plan. We shouldn't have to wait to long before then." Yuurei replied.
"It's been a long day. I'm going to try to get some rest." Kitsu said with a yawn.
"Alright. I'll see you tomorrow then." Yuurei said as she walked out of the room.
Kitsu lied down and fell off to sleep. Yuurei walked out of the clinic and started walking down the halls. She made her way to the old computer labs and sat down at computer 3-B. She turned it on and entered her account information. She searched the database until she found the folder she was looking for, Order of the Serpent. She looked through the folder until she found the names of Ryoushi and Yaiba. She edited the file, putting "terminated" next to their names. One profile in the folder caught her attention.
"What? No wonder something seemed familiar about him." Yuurei thought.
She turned off the computer and went up to bed.
"If he's involved it's no wonder they have been able to keep tabs on me so well." she thought as she fell off to sleep.
