Based off of Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development and your responses to the beginning survey/questions, I have a list of different mentoring activities that we will complete during our mentoring partnership. Each mentoring activity is different and is up to change. The activities can also be completed during a mentoring session, if plausible.
1. Listen to audio material (short story, presentation..etc) (1-3 mins)
2. Note key concepts/message of the content
3.Create a mindmap with words
4. Create a mindmap without words
5. Retell the story or the material chosen using only the 2nd mindmap
6. Watch the video and complete feedback questions
(Educaitonal Setting)
1. Find an article or a book chapter
2. Interpret simultaneously (record oneself)
3. Record text again. Interpet the meaning of the sentence and then stop.
4. Continue with each sentence.
5. When complete, record the material again.
6. Watch the video, complete feedback questions.
Many of the activities that are listed above I have personally completed with one of my interpreter mentors in the education field. She introduced me to this material and activities in 2018. I noticed that after completing many of these activities, the skills that I was striving to improve truly did improve. The links to this material is listed below!
