As we know, mentoring is not solely focused on ASL/Englis interpreation skills development. Confidence and self care are very important in the mentoring process. As a mentor, building confidence in each mentee is a priority. Confidence in oneself is equally as important as the skill he/she is trying to develop. I want each mentee to understand his/her confidence can grow through delibearate practice and by having a safe environment to work in. I want you (the mentee) to understand that during the mentoring process, I want to create a positive learning environment. Positivity and balance are very important to me (as stated in my mentoring philosophy). Listed below are a few practices that we will discuss during our mentoring sessions. I have also provided some exercises that encourage positivity when discussing one's skills. I understand that the journey of pursuing confidence can be difficult, but with the appropriate resources, I believe one can succeed.
