In the Academic Resources tab for mentors/mentees provided below, there are interpreting skills books and video material that discusses the importance of mentoring. The "Interpretation Skills" books by Marty Taylor discuss the different aspects of ASL/English interpreting skills. The book "Interpretation Skills: American Sign Language to English" directly focuses on "sign to voice" skills. The book "Interpretation Skills: English to American Sign Language" directly focuses on sign production and the specific areas that one needs to work on to enhance those skills. Listed below are also links to other books that discuss the mentoring process. The two books listed below the "Interpretation Skills" books are materials that I used during the mentoring course at the University of North Florida. The articles and video material provided below are great resources that discuss why mentorship is important, how to build mentoring relationships, and the importance of being "mentorable". Enjoy!
