The Gift of Fear
Verna, a 35-year-old Hindu psychologist married to a Christian, is a highly sensitive individual and an avid animal lover. She first encountered me during a neurophysiology course at the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT). For some time, Verna had been experiencing unsettling out-of-body episodes where her soul would seemingly detach from her body, allowing her to observe herself from an external perspective. This disturbing phenomenon led her to seek my assistance.A Gift of Light and Sound
On Friday, March 12, Verna experienced a frightening encounter with a bright light on her left side. This same occurrence repeated on Saturday and Sunday while she was staying with a friend, though during these subsequent events, she felt a sense of relaxation and calm.
On Monday, March 15, a new moon day, I invited Verna to my clinic. During a meditation session, as I guided her, she experienced an out-of-body sensation that caused her to fall to the floor. This time, she saw a bright light on her right side with dynamic, changing shapes within it, and she felt both relaxed and excited.
We then moved to the third-floor puja room, where she felt a strong energy. On the rooftop, she heard the sound of "Om," and in a moment of profound clarity, she realized the bright light she had been encountering was Lord Shiva. Deeply moved, she immediately visited a Shiva temple, where she witnessed a pink light and a shower of flowers approaching her. This experience brought her immense joy and later inspired her to visit the Shirdi Sai Baba temple.Visions and Prophecies
On March 30, 2010, Verna had a terrifying dream of an earthquake that separated her from her husband and one of her twin daughters. This dream was particularly unsettling given a prior prophecy that her marriage would end, leaving her deeply disturbed.
On June 3, 2010, Verna experienced another dream involving her deceased grandparents, a vision often associated with a family death. Coincidentally, on the same day, two students at IIIT attempted suicide – one by ingesting poison and the other by falling from a height; both survived.
In a later meditation, she saw two eyes within a cloud, which then transformed into Lord Ganesha. Subsequently, she heard the mantras "Yada yada hi" and "Om gan ganapataye namah."Spiritual Dangers and Protection
On June 27, 2010, Verna came to me distressed, fearing that her aunt had performed black magic in her home. Everyone in the household had fallen ill after her aunt sprayed a red liquid in the bathroom. In a trance, I guided Verna to revisit her house and seek light in each room. She discovered that her bedroom was dark, a room where a relative had been staying. The room was disheveled, and she felt a strong urge to clean it to eliminate the negative energy.
On July 5, Verna frantically called me, reporting that Shyam Singh had appeared in her dream, warning her not to travel on July 10, 2010. She was scheduled to attend an autism conference in Chennai on July 9 and 10. Despite her apprehension, Shyam Singh had instructed her to proceed to Chennai and pray for divine protection.A Test of Faith
On July 6th, Verna visited me, filled with anxiety and uncertainty about her trip. We meditated for an answer, but none manifested. She had not confided in her husband about the dream, as he was a nonbeliever. That night, her elder daughter heard her chanting the Gayatri Mantra and Om Ganapataye Namah at 1 a.m., though Verna herself had no recollection of doing so. This was a clear indication that a higher power was preparing her for the journey. I advised her to proceed to Chennai under the protection of the Ganesh and Gayatri mantras.A Divine Intervention
Verna traveled to Chennai, but her fear persisted. We communicated daily by phone, and I could sense her anxiety. On July 11th, she called me, and to my immense relief, she was laughing. She confessed that she had been perfectly fine and that her fear had been unfounded. It became clear that the divine warning was a test of faith, rather than a premonition of actual danger. The spiritual protection she received through the mantras proved effective, and she completed her trip without any untoward incidents.
