KRK, a 36-year-old physiotherapist, was suffering from vivid, exhausting dreams and a depressive episode that began after his mother's death a year prior. He was an only child, and his relationship with his mother, a compassionate atheist, was particularly close. He had a deep, emotional attachment to her, and her death left him lost and directionless. The dreams that plagued him were of two distinct kinds: a recurring vision of a half-woman, half-serpent being he called the "Serpent Maid" and out-of-body experiences where he was a fighter protecting his mother, the Queen. These dreams made him feel exhausted and scared, and his spiritual guru had even told him to stop meditating.
On December 27, 2013, KRK came to see me for a session. I immediately saw a vision of Laxmi Devi flying. As I guided KRK, he saw a trident in the sky, which morphed into Lord Shiva and Devi Kali. The pupil of Shiva's eye became a dark cave, and KRK was guided through it. He passed through several doors that looked like cross-sections of the brain, a fascinating visual representation of a journey into the spiritual subconscious. He arrived in a strange, blue world where the "Serpent Maid" appeared. Initially, he was afraid, but she turned into the form of a goddess and embraced him. At that moment, I realized the goddess was Manasa Devi, the Serpent Goddess, who is highly revered in North East India.
As he embraced the goddess, KRK was filled with a sense of peace and healing. She showed him a smiling picture of his deceased mother, who waved to him before slowly moving away. This provided a sense of closure and release. He returned to his body, feeling renewed and energized. He stopped taking his antidepressant and felt better than ever before.
His journey of discovery continued. He found a picture and an artifact of Manasa Devi, which exactly matched the one in his dreams, despite not having any previous knowledge of her. In a later session, he was guided back to a cave in Patal Lok with the goddess, where he saw the sage he had seen in his previous regression. He realized that the sage was his past self, and the conical ceiling of my meditation room looked exactly like the conical top of the room in his vision. The experience suggests that this is a spiritual journey for him, a fated divine calling.
