Duties of Zoning Hearing Board Member
Residents of the township are appointed by the Board of Supervisors to serve on the Zoning Hearing Board for a three-year term. The purpose of the three-man Zoning Hearing Board is to assure fair and equitable application of the zoning ordinance.
Hearings are held on variance applications and/or appeals from a decision of the zoning officer. The Board is a quasi-judicial body and considers sworn testimony and evidence offered at hearings. The Zoning Hearing Board Solicitor is independent of the Township Solicitor. The Zoning Hearing Board may grant Special Exceptions and Variances from the terms of the zoning ordinance in accordance with established criteria. Hearings are held within 60 days of receipt of an application and a decision must be rendered within 45 days of the hearing.
Meeting Dates
Zoning Hearing Board meetings are held on an as needed basis and advertised in a local paper as required by law.
