A Detailed Breakdown Of The Paint Variations – Boots

Bespin Luke didn’t just change his hair colour as often as your average woman, he was also equally as interested in changing his foot wear as often as your average woman as well! The problem with Luke’s boots, at least in the case of several of the variations is that they are much more susceptible to discolouration than his hair. However this tends to mainly affect the sienna coloured boots found on the vast majority of Luke’s and is usually easy to identify, as the boots turn a kind of light green.

The most common colour found on Luke’s boots is the sienna, if you were to pick up 50 Luke’s and compare them all, you’d probably notice countless minor difference in tone, but it would be difficult to identify weather or not this was a result of a different paint, or discolouration, so all in all it’s easier and probably more accurate to class them the same, with the exception of a couple of repeating tones which appear to be unique to specific figure variation.

The boot colour variations I tend to stick to are the nine shown below. Again, please note the difficulty in photographing colour difference, what may look the same in a picture, is different to the naked eye.

Boot Colour 1 – Sienna (Standard)

This is unquestionably the most common boot colour found on Bespin Luke. This colour can be found on the blonde HK Large figure, both the blonde and brown MIHK figures (unaltered) and all the figures found in the HK Small family including the altered versions. This is also the colour most susceptible to discolouration, turning a kind of green colour.

Boot Colour 2 – Light Brown

This boot colour is notably different than the sienna colour and appears to be unique to the blonde HK Small figures. Although these figures can be found with the standard sienna colour, they tend to appear most often with this light brown colour boots.

Boot 3 – Orange

This boot colour which is more of an orange ochre colour than any kind of brown can be found on both the blonde and brown haired MIHK unaltered figures, but it is most often found on the brown haired version.

Boot 4 – Brown

This boot colour is completely unique the ginger haired HK Large figure and is found on no other.

Boot 5 – Caramel Brown

The MIHK smoothed figures offer the most interesting range of boot colours, and are also some of the harder to find Bespin Luke variations. The first is the caramel brown boots, They kind of look like they have a ‘wash’ over the top of the base colour giving them a ‘caramel’ look. This colour is unique to this specific variation of Luke

Boot 6 – Chocolate Brown

This colour is once again unique to the MIHK smoothed figure, it’s a little darker than the brown found on the ginger haired HK Large figure which gives it a more ‘chocolate’ brown look.

Boot 7 – Dark Brown Matte

Again, unique to the MIHK smoothed figures, this is one of the more sort after variations and rarer than most of the others, there are two different shades, matte, and a slightly darker glossy version. This shade tends to be found on the versions of this figure that have the painted hip, while the darker glossy version tends to be found more often on the unpainted hip versions although both can be found on either version.

Boot 8 – Dark Brown Glossy

Very similar to the previous colour only a little darker and more glossy in appearance, as said before, this colour tends to appear more often on the unpainted hip version of the figure, but can be found on the painted hip version also. Again this is unique to the MIHK Smoothed figures.

Boot 9 – Reddish Brown

This particular colour is more of a reddish brown, almost burgundy kind of colour and is completely unique to the Blonde Lili Ledy MIHK Smoothed figures, it can be found on no other Bespin Luke figures, and is one of the harder figures in the range to find.

And that should pretty much some up the various different boots that Luke sports while prancing around cloud city. To quote the Shawshank Redemption:

- “I mean how often do you actually look at a mans shoes”

Apparently Morgan, Luke seems to think… quite a lot!
