4) Advanced Mould Family Overview Part 3 (HK Small Family (Altered))

A Detailed Breakdown Of The Bespin Luke Figure Variations

Part III - HK Small Family (Altered)

HK Small No COO (Smoothed) – Mustard Hair

This variation of Bespin Luke is one of the two that feature the HK small no COO (smoothed) of which there are two types and this figure can be found with either. When production began in Europe these specific figures where by far the most abundant Bespin Luke variations that where produced and that production was most likely done by Palitoy. It’s difficult to say exactly when production began, but my guess would there about the time that the Palitoy ROTJ 45 Back C card was introduced. This specific variation probably first appeared on that card, and could also be found on the final Bespin Luke Palitoy card the ROTJ 65 Back D. He could also be widely found on the Tri-Logo card and Meccano ROTJ 65 Back card and possibly other European cards, namely the Clipper Palitoy imports. This figure can also be fond in a non U.S. Made In Hong Kong baggie, most likely sourced from the Palitoy factory.

HK Small No COO (Smoothed) – Olive Hair

This is the second of the two Bespin Lukes that feature the HK small no COO (smoothed) stamps and as with the first, can be found with either of the two stamp variations. Early on in my research I thought it possible that the olive coloured hair was actually a result of discolouration, but the sheer numbers of which it appears I soon realized that this was in fact a unique hair colour. This figure could be found along side it’s counterpart on the Palitoy ROTJ 45 Back C and ROTJ 65 Back D cards, but seems to have been in the greatest abundance on the Tri-Logo cards. As with his counterparts, it’s also likely that he could be found on various European cards the same as the mustard haired version.
