General description and distinguishing characteristics
A medium sized deciduous tree, bark light grey and smooth, leaves are very distinctive, they are crowded at the ends of small stems, large and hairy on the undersurface, the flowers are yellowish green, borne in a conspicuous inflorescence at the ends of some of the branches, the fruit is small with two long distinctive wings which cause the fruits to spin as they fall off the tree.
Range and habitat
This species is fairly common in the Zambezi valley. In the Luangwa valley it is extremely rare, the one known individual was first recorded by Warden J.M.C. Uys. It occurs on the west slope of President's Hill.
