Niagara/Orleans Central Labor Council
Western New York's Area Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), includes five Central Labor Councils (CLCs): Buffalo, Cattaruagus/Allegany, Dunkirk, Jamestown, and Niagara/Orleans.
The mission of the Niagara/Orleans Central Labor Council is to improve the lives – and increase the power – of working families, bring fairness and dignity to the workplace, as well as secure social equity. The organization is working to bring a political voice to workers in the area, fight for public policy agendas that benefit all working families (both union and non-union), and create a broad progressive coalition for social and economic justice.
Labor Council representatives attend the monthly meeting on behalf of the LEA. While attending the meetings they share information in regards to education and the political climate. They bring back information to share with the other members of the LEA, whether it be relevant to working families, rallies to provide awareness to the latest labor issues, community involvement events, or fund-raising events sponsored by the WNY Area Labor Federation. The Labor Council representatives for the LEA are Nancy Buffone, Dani Hagen, and Heather Hall.
Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month throughout the year at various locations in Niagara and Orleans counties. Therefore, the remaining meeting dates for 2018 are:
