About the event

• This is a very last minute event prompted by the 1/28/15 cancellation of the 2/1/15 GEVA Women's B tournament scheduled for Stevens. 4 teams registered and 3 more looking to form. AUGGHH!!!

  • Powerzone stepped up and agreed to serve as a site and host organizer under the Powerzone Event program.

    • This is NOT a GEVA or USAV event. 

    • All participants may be required to complete a Powerzone event waiver before playing. (I will try to get this posted on website beforehand - otherwise expect to deal with on Sunday AM. 

    • No GEVA/USAV membership required

  • Play = 9AM - 4PM. Will use a compressed schedule for 5-7 team pool: minimal sitting, work assignments may include 2 courts.

  • Practice and game balls provided

Tournament info

• TEAM FEE = $160, 

  • • bring blank checks: will need some written to Powerzone, others written to the officials. Or just pay by cash.

    • Pay Ellen on arrival. 

• • RULES

    • PLAYING RULES = current USAV

    • UNIFORM RULES = 

      • All shirts must have proper numbering. 

    • Teams using a libero, must have uniform shirts. 

    • same color shorts

  • PLAYING FORMAT - ensures all teams scheduled for a minimum of 8 - 21 point sets.

    • 6 teams = full round robin, 2-21 point sets. 

    • Top 3 teams to playoffs

    • Semis (2nd vs 3rd) = 1-21 pt set if starts before 3PM, after 3PM = 1-15pt set

    • Finals = best of 3 2121/15 if starts before 3PM, 1-25pt set if before 3:30, otherwise = 1-15pt set

    • 7 teams = modified or shortened round robin w/playoffs

  • PRIZES

    • Pot Luck:  Requesting each team to bring eight (8) little gifts of the same item.  (key chains, power bars, volleyball chokies, water bottles, home baked goods, anything)

  • Hand off to Debbie O (Get Over It) and she will put them in a bag.  At the end of the tournament the winning team will randomly pick 3 bags and the 2nd place team will pick 2 bags. If we have more than 5 teams will adjust the prize distributions.  This will a lot of fun and give us something fun to play for.  Be creative but you are not expected to spend a lot of money. The dollar store, 5 below or anything in your closet LOL

  • If you really really don't want to do anything, then put a dollar in 8 envelopes.

  • REFEREES

  • 2 full time referees secured. teams do NOT need to R1.
