Livingston Women's Volleyball Club
Seasons Past
The Livingston Volleyball program today represents the impact of proactive and very progressive women's programs established in the 1960's by the Livingston Recreation Department. What began as a program offering for a few athletes later evolved into benchmark for future travelling teams. The early teams travelled as far as Chicago to play in tournaments and later recognized as a premier area team such that a touring Japanese National Jr Girls team stopped by and played the Livingston Greenstreaks!
Mr. Joe Sharpless, who initiated the program...moved to the Virginia area and became USA Volleyball's leading National scorekeeper and a regional chairman.
The teams of the new millenium continue a commitment to coach and pass on the sport of volleyball to future generation of girls through the Livingston Greenstreaks Girls program.
2006-2007 Season: Team reports
Livingston BB - Orange Crush! - Crew plans to Morph into another new look crew. Vik took an "out of town" job, Jen's job will keep her on the "other coast" AND Martha's out on rehab. WHAT? This crew worry??? These Crushers already won a tournament of a season barely 2 weeks old! Crew's got, ol core members: Axe and Linny agreed to fill in for Kris, Kristine, Karen, RACH's BACK AND we picked up a newbie: Meredeth!! For more about: Da Crew.
Livingston Greenstreaks Jr Girls - Likely will play Powerzone Trimatch Girls events. But program is just starting - won't know what we'll have until December!
2005-2006 Season: Team reports
Livingston BB - Cubellis: - 2006 US Nationals Women's BB Gold medal winners of Bronze Division in New Orleans!!! Congrats Gals - good work! Kris, Kristine and Karen returned with Ellen A finished with school and putting in a full season! The losses of Catherine (moving) and Linda (work) hurt, but Vikki and Martha returned from their 1 year hiatus, and brought along Jen. Rachel's #2 arrived early enough that she's getting in a few matches! This new look, ol' crew is showing they have the combo to take home more wins this year! To date they have 5 tournament wins and looking to pile on more. For more about: LVC Cubellis.
LivingstonB - The 2005-06 crew has quite a mixture of skills on the roster...some clinic graduates and some former college players - many from PA. The clinic grads are getting great experience and the college players, led by Sarah are showing respectible results playing BB.
Livingston Greenstreaks Jr Girls - Not playing GEVA tournaments, these gals are getting playing time in the Powerzone Trimatch Girls events. The freshman players are slowing becoming monsters of the court! They should be ready for JV!
2004-2005 Season: Team reports
LivingstonBB: Sharp Shooters - Crew is on a high from the National's performance! The crew finished in the silver bracket, overall: 25th of 67 teams. This year THE Moms, Catherine and Rachel, return for a full season of play. Expect to see the carriages at practice and tournaments. Their return helped the crew survive the departure of two team members and gave Kris K time to nurse herself back to health from injury. Heavy recruiting brought back Julie and found two new members. This new look crew is fun to watch and finished the season 5th! They had a tough regionals, but a successful season!
LivingstonB - We have some interest, and expect to enter a few tourneys. Check the Livingston B info/signup site if you might consider playing with them.
Livingston Masters - Fantastic friendship showing, prompts some oldies to venture out of the barn! We setup an info/signup site for any "Master" (at least 30 years young) to signup and play with us! WE did have some fun, winning a tournament and making it to a couple playoffs. Mid season rule changes pretty much eliminated the 30s crew. But after the GEVA folks gets their noses back into place, we'll be back.
Livingston Greenstreaks Jr Girls - The 17-0 Freshman crew looks to jump start this program after a hiatus.
2003-2004 Season
Livingston A - Well, "A-less" for another season, sort of. One of our club teams, "One More" performed surprisingly well in their first venture into A ball - and Won it with Christine on board!!! After a couple more strong outings in the A-division, it looks like this BB club team is staying in A.
LivingstonBB - The team is making regular appearances in the semis and finals. Quite an accomplishment considering Catherine and Rachel are out most of the season due to....B-A-B-I-E-S!!!! All Moms will be ready for this year's Nationals. And the new moms should be just enough to push these gals into the win column before the year is out! Upcoming tournaments
LivingstonB - Team on hiatus, looking to build the Jr program.
Livingston Masters - waiting for more folks to age, we'll commit to a crew next year
Livingston Greenstreaks Jr Girls - good building year - hoping for a crew for 2004-5 season.
2002-2003 Season
Livingston A - Looks like we will be A-less this season. But who knows? the BB group may tap a few A tourneys.
Livingston BB - 1st 2003 WIN! CVA1 out of Philadelphia, awed many with their performance at 2002 May BB Nationals Final took game 1 (25-14) of the Rutger's 2/9/03 finals against our Mad Gab crew...only to fall in game 2 (35-33) and 3 (15-13). Exciting! Congrats Gabbettes! Finished a 9th in the BB national's Silver Division in May 2002, highest GEVA team in Silver, this crew is a bit anxious about 2002-2003 season. Most players will return from last season, so the team is looking forward to a successful run this year. Upcoming tournaments
Livingston B - Gots lots of openings. Last season represented a slow slowbuilding season...not much tourney play, but got to meet some nice playersat practice!!!
Livingston Masters - we hope to get some gals committed to more events this year.
Livingston Greenstreaks Jr Girls - we expect to get these gals to hit more tournaments this season.
2001-2002 Season
Livingston A - Team looks forward to getting back to business in November...but considering another home base for their southern based folks.
Livingston BB - After finishing 4th overall in the BB National's Gold Division in May 2001 (out of 24 teams), this crew chomped at the bit start the 2001-2002 season. With most of the players returning from last season - this crew is peaking towards regionals, with wins at Livingston (3/23) and Horace Greeley (4/7).
Livingston B - Losing almost all the players from the prior season, Livingston will have a more difficult time fielding a B team for this season...so we got lots of openings!!!
Livingston Masters - These gals had a great time last season! ...a little bit of BB ...a little bit of B ...a little bit of Downstate...a little bit of S.M.A.C. Expect more appearances this season...when the mood hits! Doesn't matter what team you currently play with, all you need is 30+ birthdays under your belt.
2000-2001
Livingston A - The addition of a new setter enabled this crew handle the new rules as Danielle moved to libero. The crew concluded a relatively inactive season with one championship win and one other finals.
Livingston BB - New leadership and addition of six new players brought a new look to the team....and the team responded!!! The team secured a championship win and top 5 seeding for the first time in nearly 5 years!! Having made it to 3 other finals and Regional Semi-Finals, these gals wanted more - Milwaukee anyone? Look for these gals at the US Nationals - a first for Livingston at BB.
Livingston B - This squad started strong with semi-final finishes in early events...but found difficulty maintaining the early momentum. Their season ended early as they failed to field a crew for regionals - a first in years. But, the crew knows its needs and will look to add new blood and more determination from returning players.
Livingston Masters - These gals had a great time! ...a little bit of BB ...a little bit of B ...a little bit of Downstate...a little bit of S.M.A.C. Expect more appearances next season...when the mood hits!
Club "sisters" - (Callaway Golf, Shore Thing, All Out) all benefited from/and helped each other with emergency players in at least a half dozen events. In 2 tournaments, all BB club teams qualified in the same playoffs!!!
1999-2000
Livingston A - Showed a liking for Nationals...as the crew finished 3rd in the Silver division with a new setter. Crew should be happy as they had a spotty season...with ups and downs like winning an Open event in Pennsy, but missing the Regional finals in a tough tough semis.
Livingston BB - Another year with a condensed roster...but crew still got in lots of playing time...thanks in part to clubbing with Callaway Golf. Generally an "if only" type of season...missing playoffs by a game or points...we more often disappointed ourselves...but when we got mad - we got really mad and mowed over teams until the finals @ Hunter. Unfortunately it was our last hurrah - as we simply couldn't handle the "heat" of regionals.
Livingston B - What a break out season!!! The addition of Beth, Renee, Jumpin' Jay and Annie solidified the crew more than made up for the loss of three regulars. In what looked like a very questionable roster...a stretch at 5, they managed to pull together a solid B crew and improved with each showing! They surely turned some heads playing in their first semi-final regional since the big win of '94.
Livingston Masters - OH what fun! This was just the crew to keep our BB players playing as we found happy guests willing to play with us for the sake of...just playing! And surprising made a few playoff appearances.
Livingston Jrs - Just completed a hugely successful season!!! They played thru most of the 1999 High School season undefeated and finished the season with huge successes. 2nd in Livingston's 1st High School Invitational Tournament, 2nd in State Sectional Finals, Quarter finalist in the NJ State Championships!
1998-1999
Livingston A - Finished the 1998-99 season seeded 2nd. They lost a tough semi-final to Creole who went on to beat Team Bud Light in Regional finals.
Livingston BB - Seeded in the "back of the pack" for most of 1998-1999, this squad finished the season playing very well and "left it all on the court" at regionals...When the crew could get it's 6 players together...they played well, winning one @ Warren.
Livingston B - Also seeded in the "back of the pack" for 1998-2000, this team played well at regionals with Vicki the new setter. New players: Kelly, Vicki, Marianne, Donna and Patty helped form a team with Atikah and Evie, the only returning players. The team made playoffs a couple of times during the year...and a couple of players filled in well with the BB team.
