The calcareous home of a marine annelid worm. These specialized worms cemented their spiral tubes directly onto firm sandstones, pebbles, or loose shells lying on the ancient Lutetian seafloor. Finding them in the sandstone lenses provides excellent environmental evidence of a steady, current-swept coastal bottom where sedentary filter-feeders had enough stable surfaces to anchor themselves and grow.
