Delhi Police arrest AAP's Kondli MLA Manoj Kumar in land fraud case

The Delhi Police arrested AAP legislator Manoj Kumar in connection with a case of land fraud on Thursday, adding to the embarrassment of the Arvind Kejriwal-led party.

Delhi Police commissioner BS Bassi said the MLA from Kondli was being questioned in an old case of land fraud.

The arrest came two months after an FIR was registered against Kumar on a complaint that he and his accomplices had thrashed a man in Delhi's Mayur Vihar (Phase-III).

Kumar is among the 21 AAP legislators against whom the Delhi Police have reportedly decided to file chargesheets in connection with criminal cases.

Over a week after Jitender Singh Tomar was arrested for allegedly submitting fake academic records to Delhi Bar Council for registering as an advocate, his questioning revealed that he had procured the said documents from two agents.

The Delhi Police arrested AAP leader and then Delhi law minister Jitender Singh Tomar around a month ago for allegedly faking his degree, chargin him with forgery, cheating and criminal conspiracy.

A Delhi court recently extended Tomar's judicial custody till July 20.

A day after Tomar's arrest in June, AAP MLA Somnath Bharti’s wife filed a domestic violence case against him.

Lipika Mitra accused Bharti of dowry harassment, sexual and mental torture and infidelity and filed a complaint with the Delhi Commission of Women (DCW).
