AAP’s IT-admin calls Rakhi Sawant ‘silicone waali’; deletes tweet

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) IT-admin Ankit Lal stirred the hornest’s nest on Wednesday by referring Bollywood starlet Rakhi Sawant as “silicone waali” on microblogging site Twitter. However, anticipating a possible backlash, Lal deleted the post soon after.

“BJP guys are so confused! Modi wanted a silicon valley, BJP got a silicone waali! #RakhiSawant #NamoInLucknow #KejriwalAtKanpur,” read a recent tweet from Lal’s Twitter handle.

Speaking to Dailybhaskar.com, Lal, an engineer by training, sought to downplay the incident, and claimed the remark was directed to the BJP, not at Rakhi.

“I have already apologized for the tweet. It was not meant to degrade any individual. It was directed to the BJP. However, some of my friends raised objections to it, following which, I have deleted the tweet,” he said.

With AAP’s convener Arvind Kejriwal reportedly being detained, and released shortly after, in Gujarat for allegedly violating model code of conduct- the former Delhi Chief Minister was conducting a road show without seeking required permission- Lal’s overzealous act may land the fledgling party in fresh trouble.

Kejriwal is currently on a four-day tour in BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s home turf to ‘assess’ latter’s development claims.

Earlier, Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath announced the polling schedule for upcoming General Elections. The elections to 16th Lok Sabha will commence on April 7, and will be spread across an unprecedented nine phases, making it the longest ever in country’s electoral and democratic history.
