Lewiston-Altura defeated St. Charles 24-6 Friday night to bring home the hammer for the 5th consecutive season.
The Saints were able to hold the Cardinals off the board in the first quarter with solid defense and a ball control offense. In the second quarter, L-A was able to put a touchdown on the board when Sheldon Knutson took a counter 33-yards to the end zone. The Cardinals started their next drive on the Saints 3-yard line after a 48-yard punt return by Jordan Theee. The Cardinals lokoed to have an easy score, but the Saints tough defense forced a fumble that the Cardinals' Briar Peters was able to fall on for a touchdown.
The third quarter proved to be another defensive battle. The Cards were able to put another score on the board to start the fourth when Nate Reps side-stepped into the end zone pushing the score to 18-0. The Cards final score came courtesy of a 12-yard run by Cole Greden. The Saints were able to put one touchdown on the board, but it was too late as the Cards held on for the victory.
L-A moves to 5-0 on the season and will face a tough Dover-Eyota squad for Homecoming next Friday.
