In the fall of 2012 our School District received notice that both our outdoor and indoor concession stands were out of compliance and would need to be shut down unless we made improvements to bring the concession stands back in compliance so that we could continue to serve the concessions menu that our community has become accustomed to. We made a series of improvements to the indoor concession stand bringing that stand back into compliance. As for the outdoor stand, we were told that we could make renovations and improvements on the condition that the District would be pursuing a more permanent solution.
Based on the estimated costs to renovate the outdoor concession stand to serve as a temporary solution, the School Board directed administration to form an Outdoor Facilities Task Force to explore a more permanent solution and to also identify other areas for improvement. In the mean time, the Booster Club along with some community members stepped up to provide the temporary use of concessions trailers so that we were able to serve our traditional concessions menu for activities this past fall, and so that we will be able to continue to do so this spring.
The Outdoor Facilities Task Force has identified the construction of a new concession stand/ticket booth as a top priority for 2014-2015. Our School Board has approved the concept, and has also approved a call for bids on specific aspects of the project.
Attached is a brochure that provides some additional background information on the issues, the solutions, and that also asks people to make a monetary donation to help support the construction of a new outdoor concession stand/ticket booth and other future outdoor improvements if they are interested in helping that way.
Please feel free to forward this email to anyone that you think may be interested in learning more about the issues, the solutions, or that may be interested in helping by making a donation.
Thanks for your help.
Sincerely,
Jeff Apse
