8th grade awards night highlights SAS students' work
The 8th grade awards ceremony was held on May 23, 2013 to honor the accomplishments of Le Conte's graduating class. Gold sashes for the Principal's Honor Roll were given to students with a perfect 4.0 GPA including Ryan Alba, Brenda Lucas Rios, Joshua Ramirez and Diego Tamayo. Gold cords were awarded to students with a cumulative GPA of 3.75-3.99 including Angel Corros, Mary Davtyan, Leslie Gonzalez Munoz, Jose Martinez, Hakop Ovsepyan, and Enrique Zambrano. Silver cords were presented to Nuria Cedillos and Tonny Youn for achieving a GPA of 3.5-3.74. Additional honors in various categories recognized academics, athletics, and citizenship.

SAS students show Elementary students what Le Conte has to offer
Thank you to 7th grade Leadership students who acted as tour guides for all our potential incoming students. Thanks to Ms. Lester for giving a presentation about the SAS program, Mr, Hass and students for demonstrating what our band has to offer, Mr. Dziepak and students for showing how amazing our Science Olympiad and LEGO Robotics teams are. We look forward to seeing the new Eagles on campus next year.

Congratulations to ***** and ******* for completing the 2013 LA Marathon! After training all year, students ran 26.2 miles from Downtown LA through Hollywood and ended at the beach.
SAS takes 1st and 2nd place in Pi Day
SAS students came in first and second in the Pi memorization contest. Jerry Loza recited 182 digits of Pi in front of the whole school during the Pi day assembly. ***** came in second with 171 digits memorized. Amazing minds indeed!
Science Olympiad team places 13th at LA Regionals
Le Conte's Science Olympiad team placed 13th overall at the Los Angeles County Regional competition held on February 23, 2013 and earned individual event medals including 5th in Food Science and 6th in Reach for the Stars. Current SAS students on the team included Pablo Keme (8), Marvin Rodas (8), Rita Kanater (7), and Christopher Berrios (6). Five former Le Conte SAS students also returned to compete with the team as 9th graders: Julio Alvarenga, Nancy Cappa, Ashley Enriquez and Estefania Valencia of Hollywood HS SAS and Vanessa Garcia of Crescenta Valley HS. Le Conte SAS alums Brian James Cortina and Frank Lorenzana competed in the Senior Division for STEM Academy @ Bernstein after helping found that school's first ever team.
