Joseph Le Conte Middle School is located in the heart of Hollywood, contributing to the school's diversity and resources. Open since 1922, Le Conte enjoys the benefits of community partnerships with nearby film studios and occasional appearances in the background of films and television.

The School for Advanced Studies program is a small learning community in grades 6-8 that started in the fall of 2011. Students in the SAS program take all Honors courses and have access to the full range of electives and activities available to all Le Conte students. The three year program is designed to provide a solid foundation of knowledge, develop critical thinking skills, and prepare students for future academic challenges.

Classes in the SAS program integrate technology and arts to provide students with a well rounded learning environment. Field trips are an essential part of the SAS experience that allow students to connect classroom learning to the real world. Special advisory sessions focus on preparing for high school and college, while college visits help students envision their future.
