There are 20 American flags that are set up behind the Gold Scouts on the stage, providing a dramatic backdrop.
This important job involves getting access to the Montrose Scout House where the flags are stored, picking them up (large vehicle and strong helpers are needed), arriving at the ceremony two hours in advance to set them up and arrange them perfectly. This takes time and requires some parent help! (We suggest you bring your ceremony clothes with you and change after setting up the flags.)
After the ceremony, allow plenty of time for Scouts and their families to take photos in front of the flags and then take down the flags, packing them away carefully for next year, and return them to the Montrose Scout House.
For access to the scout house contact GSGLA Council at: https://www.girlscoutsla.org/en/discover/our-council/our-locations/outdoor-program-centers/montrose.html
They often refer us to: Patti Brundige ( pattibrundige@gmail.com ) in order to get access.
