• 1825 : Ben prima della scoperta della radica, la famiglia Comoy già produce pipe in gran parte di legno di bosso per i "brontoloni " dell'esercito di Napoleone nel piccolo villaggio di Avignone, vicino a Saint-Claude.
• 1850 : Nasce di Henry Comoy, fondatore del marchio .
• 1856 : Viene scoperta la radica e in seguito il particolare trattamento speciale che è richiesto per la fabbricazione delle pipe. Saint-Claude diventa il luogo di nascita della pipa di radica dando luogo alla capitale mondiale della pipa fatta a mano.
• 1870 : Henri Comoy , prigioniero di guerra in Svizzera, incontra i suoi cugini della famiglia Chapuis e propone l'idea di una associazione.
• 1879 : Henry Comoy emigra a Londra con alcuni dei suoi tecnici di Saint- Claude e fonda la prima fabbrica di pipe in Inghilterra, la H. Comoy & C. LTD. La fabbrica di Saint-Claude fornisce loro radica e i fornelli già sbozzati.
• 1922 : Dopo la prima guerra mondiale l'associazione Comoy e CHAPUIS si realizza e la fabbrica di Saint-Claude diventa,
CHAPUIS COMOY & Cie.
• 1924 : Muore Henry Comoy. I suoi figli Paolo e Adrien assumono la direzione delle fabbriche a Saint-Claude e Londra assistiti dai loro cugini Emile e Louis Chapuis.
• 1928 : La fabbrica di Londra è ora in grado di produrre le pipe totalmente per conto proprio ed al fine di sviluppare anche la fabbrica di Saint-Claude, nasce il marchio Chacom, usando le prime tre lettere delle famiglie CHApuis & COMoy's. Fino al 1939 le pipe Chacom erano in commercio solo in Francia, Belgio e Svizzera, per non mettere in imbarazzo le Comoy's che avevano le stesse forme e qualità.
• 1932 : La crisi economica mondiale raggiunge Saint-Claude. Per resistere a questo problema Chapuis Comoy & Cie si unisce con un'altra società rinominandola LA BRUYERE, formando la più grande e temibile società di produzione di pipe al mondo, che contava ben 450 operai inoltre, in quell'anno, ci fù un grande spostamento di blocchi di radica dal reparto essiccazione al nuovo capannone della fabbrica.
• 1945 : Dopo la Seconda Guerra Mondiale la Chacom assume tutta la sua libertà commerciale e lancia una gamma completa e moderna di pipe.
• 1946 : Chacom diventa il marchio principale in Francia e Belgio .
• 1947-1948: Chacom diventa il numero uno in Scandinavia, Germania e poi negli Stati Uniti ...
• 1957: Di fronte alla forte crescita commerciale del marchio Chacom l'azienda La Bruyère riacquista il nome CHAPUIS Comoy & Cie.
• 1964: Muore Adrien Comoy. Suo figlio Pierre assume il controllo della società a Londra . Reed intanto è il Presidente e Amministratore Delegato della società a Saint-Claude .
• 1965: CHACOM è primo marchio francese di pipe in GIAPPONE.
• 1971: Dopo aver ottenuto la sua indipendenza da COMOY'S di Londra, Yves GRENARD, cugino di secondo grado di Pierre Comoy, assume la direzione di Chapuis Comoy & Cie e al tempo stesso sua diventa la vendita esclusiva di H. Comoy & Ltd, in Francia.
• 1978: Pierre MOREL, indipendente produttore di pipe a mano libera, crea per Chacom una linea completamente fatta a mano, le Chacom Grand Cru. Egli è il creatore delle pipe fatte a mano libera chiamate "Naja" e "Fleur de Bruyère".
• 1987: Pierre MOREL si unisce al team Chapuis - Comoy a tempo pieno .
• 1994 : Chapuis - Comoy acquista e integra l'azienda ROPP .
• 1996: Nasce la prima pipa di design: la Chacom Volute, realizzato in collaborazione con Claude Robin.
• 1997 : Chacom è la prima pipa francese ad essere esportata in Russia e nei paesi dell'Est
• 1998 : Viene lanciata la seconda linea della Chacom Volute.
• 1999 : L'Associazione del commercio della pipa ha firmato un contratto con le autorità per lo sviluppo delle industrie di pipe. Parte di questo sviluppo avviene da grazie alla Chacom con la collaborazione con i designer che creano la nuova raccolta "PASTEL" e soprattutto le "HEDO" e le "CYCLADE"
• 2001 : Yves GRENARD progetta per Chacom la pipa "MILLENIUM", una nuova linea che inaugura il nuovo millennio per Chacom, che lancerà una pipa diversa ogni anno.
• 2002 : Introduzione di Chacom in Cina
• 2003 : Nasce un'altra linea di design da Erwin Van Handenhoven. Questa nuova l'inea include l'inserto nero o madreperlato.
• 2007 : Antoine Grenard, figlio di Yves assume la direzione di CHAPUIS-Comoy & Cie. Laureato presso l'Università di design, crea numerosi nuovi modelli (sfera, Vulcano, Monza...) tutte forme moderne mantenendo il rinomato know-how e la qualità delle pipe Chacom .
OGGI le pipe Chacom sono vendute in 58 paesi nel mondo.
• 1825 : Well before the discovery of briarwood the COMOY family manufactured pipes in the small village of Avignon, near to Saint-Claude, mostly in boxwood for the "Grumblers" of the Army of Napoleon.
• 1850 : Birth of Henry COMOY, founder of the brand.
• 1856 : Discovery of briarwood and particularly the special treatment it required for the making of pipes. Saint-Claude becomes the birthplace of briar pipe manufactures and the world capital of pipe-making.
• 1870 : Henri COMOY, prisoner of war in Switzerland meets his cousins the Chapuis and ruminates the idea of an association.
• 1879 : Henry COMOY emigrates to London with some of his technicians from Saint-Claude and establishes the first English pipe factory in England H. COMOY & C° LTD. The Saint-Claude factory supplies them with briarwood and pipe bowls.
• 1922 : After the First World War the association COMOY and CHAPUIS is realised and the Saint-Claude factory becomes CHAPUIS COMOY & Cie.
• 1924 : Death of Henri COMOY. His sons Paul and Adrien assume the direction of the factories in Saint-Claude and London assisted by their cousins Emile and Louis Chapuis.
• 1928 : London now able to produce their own pipes, and in order to develop the Saint-Claude factory, the brand CHACOM is created, using the first three letters of the COMOY and CHAPUIS families. Up till 1939 CHACOM was offered only in France, Belgium and Switzerland in order not to embarrass the COMOY pipes which had the same shapes and qualities.
• 1932 : The world economic crisis reaches Saint-Claude. To weather this problem Chapuis Comoy & Cie joins with another company under the name of LA BRUYERE, forming the biggest pipe concern in the world with 450 workpeople. Big trucks were needed to transfer the briar blocks from the drying shed to the factory.
• 1945 : After the Second World War CHACOM assumes its entire commercial liberty and launches a complete and modern range of pipes.
• 1946 : Chacom becomes the principal brand in France and Belgium.
• 1947 – 1948 : CHACOM, number one in Scandinavia, Germany, then United States…
• 1957 : In face of the commercial preponderance of the brand CHACOM the company La Bruyère returns to the name of CHAPUIS COMOY & Cie.
• 1964 : Death of Adrien COMOY. His son Pierre succeeds to him in London. Mr REED is the Chairman and Managing Director in Saint-Claude.
• 1965 : First French brand named pipe in JAPAN
• 1971 : Having recovered its independence from COMOYS of London, Yves GRENARD, second cousin of Pierre COMOY, takes over the Direction of Chapuis Comoy & Cie and at the same time the exclusive sale of H. COMOY & Ltd, in France.
• 1978 : Pierre MOREL, independent free-hand pipe maker, creates for Chacom a line completely hand made the Chacom Grand Cru. He is the creator of the free-hand shapes Naja and "Fleur de Bruyère".
• 1987 : Pierre MOREL joins the team Chapuis-Comoy as full-time.
• 1994 : Chapuis-Comoy integrates ROPP company.
• 1996 : First design pipe : Chacom Volute, realised in collaboration with Claude ROBIN
• 1997 : First French pipe to be exported to Russia and East countries
• 1998 : Chacom Volute n° 2 is launched
• 1999 : The Pipe Trade Association signed a contract with the authorities for developing pipe industries. One of the action is the co-operation with designers who create the new PASTEL Collection and specially the HEDO and CYCLADE for Chacom.
• 2001 : Yves GRENARD designed for Chacom the MILLENIUM, a new line for one thousand years as a new shape will be designed each year.
• 2002 : Introduction of Chacom in China
• 2003 : Another design line by Erwin VAN HANDENHOVEN with black or nacre insert.
• 2007 : Antoine GRENARD, Yves's son takes over the management of CHAPUIS-COMOY & Cie.
Graduated from a Design University, he creates several new models ( Sphère, Vulcano, Monza... ) all modern shapes with keeping the renowned know-how and quality of the CHACOM pipes.
Chacom pipes are sold in 58 countries.
