Reliving the 60’s and 70’s Kiwanis Style

We had our 8th Annual Wine Tasting Dinner at Brianza Gardens and Winery in Verona.  Our Theme was “Reliving the 60’s and 70’s Kiwanis Style".  This was a fun evening of reliving all the Memories of the “1960’s and 1970’s! Some dressed in period attire.  Prizes were awarded for the best dressed man and woman. We shared wines and had a fantastice dinner remembering the fun times of those days!  The Wine Event was primarily for the benefit of GOPantry and Camp Corral. Almost 60 folks joined us!  


New Day Ranch Donation
April 9, 2024

Thanks to our Bunny and Brunch and Brianza's Easter Egg Hunt, we were able to present a donation check  for a total of $3,000. Accepting for New Day Ranch equine therapy was Beth Long, CEO, Maggie Kinney-Bulmer, Manager and Tim Guilfoile, Board Member. 

Deb Parnigoni, Brianza Winery and Doug Keeling, President, Chris Sturgil, VP, and Steve Sturgil, Treasurer, all from Kiwanis,  shared the presentation. 

Dinner With Mentoring Plus

Boone Kiwanis members met with Mentoring Plus at their location to prepare a dinner for their kids and Mentors.  We visited their site on York Street March 21, 2024. We served kids and Mentors and staff for an Italian dinner and cupcakes. Proud of you Mentoring+ 

Brunch With The Bunny

March 16 Saturday  10:00 to 12:00

We served breakfasts at the New Day Ranch in Verona on a beautiful, cool morning.  Easter Egg Hunts, a Petting Zoo, a visit with the Horses, Pictures with the Bunny, Silent Auction Items galore and a chance at a week's stay in Dollywood contest to boot.  All this as a fundraiser for the New Day Ranch and to help out the Ryle High School Key Club. Thanks go out to McDonald's Gateway and Meijers and Costco for helping out as well as the Ryle High Key Club!

Ringing Bells for Salvation Army

We assisted Salvation Army's Kettle Bell Ringing at Kroger's in Burlington. So many folks contributed. And Rudolph arrived too! And Captain Aaron Moore, head of Salvation Army and Ryle Key Club members too. Hundreds of folks contributed to our two kettles! A Merry Christmas to all!

We helped the Salvation Army of Covington, KY by Adopting a Family for Christmas. Our Club collected over $600 of gifts plus donated $150 to the Salvation Army for their costs. Captain Wanessa Moore attended our KCBC Meeting to receive their donations.

 Kiwanis Boone County held our biggest fundraiser of the year. Brianza Winery was ready for our big event of  a September Mardi Gras Party, Bluegrass Style!  A lot of hard work went into this beautiful night benefitting Camp Corral and GO Pantry. We are so grateful for the support of GO Pantry and all our guests and Sponsors who attended.

KT District Conference Meeting

Lexington, KY

The Kentucky Tennessee Division of Kiwanis held their semi-annual meeting at the Hilton Hotel, downtown Lexington.  We had KCBC members attend the three day event.  We presented HT Kiwanis with 2 Diaper Bags for young mothers.  We also helped Harvest Pack as over 100 members packed food packets enough to make 25,000 meals. Training Sessions, Luncheons and Dinners, a Put Put Golf Tournament, all took place.  Also our Kiwanis Club of Boone County received an Award for Best Club Brochure awarded by KT. Way to go Boone County!

Ryle High School Honors Night

It's always a pleasure when the Kiwanis Club of Boone County can assist a student by awarding a Scholarship grant!  We at Boone County Kiwanis rewarded Brady Hall, Senior, Ryle High School, a $1000 assistance scholarship.  Brady told us he wants to study Law after leaving Ryle.  Brady was the President of the Key Club at Ryle and has assisted in many great projects with their Key Club and our Kiwanis Club.

New Haven Elementary

We offered Ice Cream with ALL THE TRIMMINGS to 43 Elementary students at New Haven Elementary.  Mrs. Susan Hartman's classes completed their goals of bringing up their grades, setting goals, and living up to their "right thing to do" moto's during the school year!  Kiwanis Boone County 's BUG's Advisor Jean O"Hara worked most of the year with Mrs. Hartman's classes to offer rewards each grading period as they met their goals.

Ryle High School Key Club Accomplishes First Place

Gabrielle Miles and Allison Lopez Cardenas received a Trophy for their Ryle Key Club we support from the Kentucky Tennessee Key Club for the first Place Kiwanis Poster Contest Winners. Their category was Non Digital Poster. Their Poster they designed is being submitted to Kiwanis International Key Club International Convention held in California this summer. 

Kiwanis and Brianza Winery Team Up for a Spring Wine Walk

We took a Wine Walk at Brianza Winery Sat afternoon! Our Kiwanis Club got an informative tour as we walked about 2 K around the Winery seeing how the grapes become wine and lots of side stories about the Winery. Great band "What About Jane" played afterwards. Over 40 folks helped raise funds for GO Pantry .

Kiwanis Boone County Provides Donation to New Day Ranch

Boone County Kiwanis made a donation to the New Day Ranch in Verona, KY.  CEO Beth Long received a donation in the amount of $2,000 including a donation from Meijers' Stores with Gift Cards. President Doug Keeling and several or our members presented the Donation.  This was the third year we raised funds from an Easter Egg Hunt at the New Day Ranch   Thank you, New Day Ranch for helping children with special needs using Equine Therapy

Kiwanis Provides Special Needs Ramp  

March 2023

Physical Therapist Jen Clause explained to our Kiwanis she knew the family we could help.  This would be by providing funding and support for a ramp next to a home in Erlanger. This special needs ramp was for a child and the mother who is suffering from cancer. We gave her a check for $1,000 for the construction.

Salvation Army Presentation Celebration at the Tousey House

On 12/13/22  we shared the Christmas Season with a dinner meeting, and presenting a donation check to the Salvation Army from our Kiwanis Boone County Club.  The $150 donation was in addition to our helping their Adopt A Family Program raising over $1200 in gifts. We also rang Bells for the Salvation Army 12/10/22 at the Kroger's in Burlington from 1000 am until 600pm along with the assistance of the Ryle High School Key Club.

We “Rang the Bells " at Kroger's in Burlington, KY. Kiwanis Members "Ringing the Bell" were be assisted by members of the Ryle High School Key Club. We had a visit from Rudolph the Reindeer while there too! We raised almost $1,000 for the salvation Army.



Kiwanis Club Supports the Salvation Army's "Adopt A Family" Program

Boone County Kiwanis delivered on a promise fulfilled to the Salvation Army’s “Adopt A Family 2022” Program. Our Club picked items for our family given to us by the Salvation Army Covington. Our members contributed in one way of another by purchasing clothing items, toys/gift items, dishware, kitchen utensils, bedding or gift certificates.  Captain Wanessa Moore of the Salvation Army met us at noon, our two cars loaded with gifts and items.

Thanks go out to Brianza Gardens and Winery's Tony Parnigoni, owner, for hosting a "Wine Walk" on October 23 on behalf of Mentoring Plus.  Mentoring Plus Executive Director Chris Saunders joined our November 22nd Kiwanis Meeting and received a Donation of $706 for Mentoring +.  Mentoring + is a non-profit which provides guidance and hope for teens in the N KY community.  They have mentors who nurture kids who need help overcoming challenges in life.  Thanks, Mentoring Plus, for helping our children!

The Kiwanis Club of Boone County presented our Ryle High School Key Club with a donation of $150 to assist in costs for the Clubs Fall Project of making blankets to support the Children's Advocacy Group.  President Hall and Key Club Supervisor Mrs. McQuade receive a check form Kiwanis Advisor Doug Keeling.

BUG's "Bring Up Grades" Program Presents First Awards

Following in the footsteps of last year's program, Kiwanis is teaming up with New Havn Elementary's 3rd grade class with Mrs. Hartman and providing incentives for the kids to stay focused and improve their grade performance whenever possible.  Informational Letters were sent to parents and the 3rd graders received pads and squishes for performance markers after first quarter grades went out October 24, 2022.

Beth McIntire accepts a donation check for $3,000 from Kiwanis President Steve Sturgil. This was raised primarily from the "Revisiting the Roaring Twenties" Fundraiser held in August 2022 at the Brianza Winery. GOPantry helps feed hungry kids in N. Kentucky.

Boone County Kiwanis Makes Donation to Camp Corral

Camp Corral helps children of fallen, disabled, ill, or deceased vets around the US attend summer camp for a week each summer.  The nearest to our Boone County Club is Camp Ernst.  Thanks to our August 19th fundraiser event "Revisiting the Roaring Twenties" and the thoughtfulness of our attendees, our Club, and, as well, Tony Parnigoni's Brianza Winery, we were able to make a $1,200 donation.

Roaring Twenties Fundraiser a Success

August 19, 2022

"Remembering the Roaring Twenties" get together Friday Evening at Brianza,  Our Kiwanis Club had 75 folks for Dinner, Wine Tasting and music and dancing the Charleston. What a hoot!  Thanks to Tony Parnigoni and Brianza Winery, Musician Dave Lewis and Chef Barone and our supporter donors for contributing to the fun. We were supporting primarily GO Pantry who helps feed hungry kids  and Camp Corral who provides a week of summer camp for kids of disabled or fallen Vets.

We awarded Beth Long, head of New Day Ranch, a donation of $1,600 including $300 Gift Certificates from the Meijer Stores in Florence, KY.  This donation came primarily from our Easter Fundraiser on April 9th. 

Kiwanis Boone County Hosts BUGs Ice Cream Social

Kiwanis Boone County hosted an Ice Cream Social for 35 students from New Haven Elementary BUGs program. The third  graders loved it. The group, composed of mostly third graders from Mrs. Hartman's Class each gave a talk about who they were and what they've learned during the year. They got a graduation Cert from BUGs .  Thanks to member Sue Kozlowski for heading up the program for Kiwanis.

Our Wine Walk for Go Pantry was a great success! Thanks Tony and Deb Parnigoni and Brianza Winery...and Beth McIntyre, GOPantry, for sharing the day!  Wines, cheeses, and friends taking a 2.5K stroll. We had about 70 folks come out! Great wine tasting.

Brunch and The Bunny

New Day Ranch, Verona, KY

The Kiwanis Club of Boone County hosted a truly fun event.  We had over 70 folks, adults and children, come to the New Day Ranch for a visit with the Easter Bunny, go on an Easter Egg Hunt, have a yummy breakfast and stop by to say "hello" to the animals in the Petting Zoo and have a chance to go home with some wonderful gift baskets.

We were there from 10:00 am until Noon.  Our Egg Hunt took place this year inside the Horse Arena at the New Day Farm. We want to thank the McDonalds Restaurant on Richwood Road for providing our breakfast supplies and the Boone County Business Association for helping out.  

Our fundraiser was primarily for both the New Day Ranch and their equine program they offer for troubled children and the Ryle High School Key Club, helping Ryle students learn Leadership Skills.

Going above and beyond through giving, improving the community, keeping timely reports,  and representing and living the our Kiwanis Moto of providing resources so we can help make a difference in the lives of children, one child and one community at a time.

Kiwanis Donates to Mentoring Plus "Seed of Hope" Mission

Mentoring Plus brings guidance and hope to kids in the community.  They have devoted "mentors" providing high-risk teens with support in a nurturing environment so together they can overcome challenges. We are helping support their gala fundraiser on April 1, 2022 at the Syndicate in Newport by a $300 donation as well as having eight members attend their function.

Key Club and Boone County Kiwanis Go Bowling

The Ryle Key Club joined up with the Kiwanis Club of Boone County on Presidents Day for some good ole Bowling. We had a blast and Kiwanis Boone County  presented Ryle High School with a Donation for $300 for their help with the Bunny and Brunch Fundraiser Event. President Sophia accepted  from Key Club Kiwanis Advisor Doug Keeling. Good work to the Ryle Key Club and we look forward to working with you at our next event.

BUGs Launched at New Haven Elementary


We began our BUGs (Bringing Up Grades) at New Haven Elementary  in Union, KY.  Mrs. Hartman's third grade class will receive incentives and mentoring from our Boone County Club to achieve grades improvements over the next 5 months. The first grading period is complete and a presentation of gifts went out to the students.  The class wanted "Smelley Markers" as their first gifts! Way to go Mrs. Hartman's Class!!!

Western Kentucky Relief Donation

Along with the spirit of the season and with the Tornado devastation which occurred in Western Kentucky, the Kiwanis Club of Boone County,  through Andy Beshear's Relief Fund and the K-T Foundation Western KY Relief Fund, and members of the Club, contributed together over $1,600 to the Tornado Relief Aid.

In the spirit of the Holidays, our Boone County Club met at the Tousey House Restaurant in Burlington for a dinner and  invited guests Laura Dumancic, head of GO Pantry and Captain Wanessa Moore, co-leader of the Salvation Army of Covington, KY and N. KY.  We gave donations to both GOPantry and Salvation Army.

GO Pantry and Kiwanis are a Team

Several of our Kiwanis Club of Boone County members attended a GOPantry "Go Box and Go Bag" sorting event 11/30/21. Not only did we drop off 4 bags of food items, we also helped for several hours sort food groupings for their Christmas drive giveaway.  In addition, President Sturgil gave Beth and Laura a Donation from both Kiwanis and Meijer Stores.

Mentoring Plus Donation Ceremony

At our evening Club meeting, we awarded a donation of $1,000 to the Mentoring Plus Organization. This Non-profit is headed by Chris Saunders and helps kids in N KY through mentoring children who have special needs by adult volunteers. Brianza Winery was represented by Tony Parnigoni who helped make this special donation a reality.

Boots and Bourbon New Day Ranch Fundraiser

 Some Kiwanis Club of Boone County members attended a New Day Ranch Fundraiser. Fun time for a great organization.  Guest speaker was Triple Crown Winner Steve Cothen.  They had silent auction items and a Horse and Farm Animal "meet and greet"  Music by Marty Connor Band and a wonderful dinner followed.

Our Kiwanis Club of Boone County Meeting October 12, 2021 kicked off our 6th year. President Sturgil welcomed members and guests to the upcoming Kiwanis year and launched our new year. We had the privilege to present a gift basket to one lucky visitor. and guests helping us

"Serve and Socialize" Meet and Greet


We were at the Boone County Public Library Library September 30th  and met Northern Kentuckians who wanted to learn about the various organizations in Boone County.  These organizations provided information, gifts and socializing for attendees.  Groups like Kiwanis , Boone County Arboretum, Big Bone Lick Park, Florence Woman's Club, Cancer Research, Boone County Historical Society, Dinsmore House to name just a few.

Going on a Fall Wine Walk for Mentoring Plus 

Sunday afternoon at Brianza Winery we held a Wine Walk benefiting Mentoring Plus. We had about 35 folks who walked 2.5 K and heard from winemaker Tony Parnigoni about growing grapes, processing wines, and a history of his Brianza Gardens and Winery. What a blast and supported by Kiwanis Club of Boone County! 

Rob's Kids Attends September 28, 2021 Meeting

We had a special guest from Rob's Kids with us at the Boone County Library. Stephanie Potter received a check for $1200 from the Kiwanis Club of Boone County.  She heads up Rob's Kids which helps children with PTSD  and suicide trauma.  Stephanie gave us an overview of Rob's Kids latest activities.

Dinner and Wine Tasting Fundraiser - A Success

We had our Fundraiser, a  "Walk In The Clouds",  at the Brianza Gardens and Winery on August 19, 2021. We emphasized wines from both California around the St Helena and Sonoma areas and Verona's  Brianza Winery.   Tony Parnigoni, wine maker, shared information about our wines. We were raising funds primarily for Camp Corral and Rob's Kids.

Boone County Kiwanis received recognition from the Kentucky Tennessee District for the year 2020-2021 August 7, 2021. This was an Award for "Best Brochures".  Way to go Boone County.  Another year of being an "Award Winning Club"!

Kiwanis Boone County "Packs the Boxes" for Go Pantry

Members from our Club spent over two hours Thursday June 17 helping many  other volunteers from around Boone County including Connor High School students pack GO Boxes for families. Chris, Dave, and Steve volunteered to help out. Thanks members for helping GOPantry!

A New Day For The Bunny and Brunch Fundraiser 

The New Day Ranch along with students from the Ryle Key Club and our Kiwanis Club of Boone County's engaged members had a beautiful morning and a perfect setting for our Fundraiser Event on March 27, 2021 at 10:00 AM. The New Day Ranch in Verona, KY, is a working Ranch featuring Horses and other Farm Animals offering Mental therapy for children.  We had a visit from the Easter Bunny and kids went on an Easter Egg Hunt. Everyone was able to visit a “petting zoo” and also received Brunch. In addition, we held a Silent Auction offering 17 beautiful baskets. All this was primarily for the purpose to assist New Day Ranch and the Ryle High School Key Club. Thanks go out to Meijer's Stores for their assistance too.

Kiwanis Receives Thank You from Kiwanis International and Kentucky Tennessee District 

Kiwanis Boone County offers financial support each January through an investment in the Children's Fund at Kiwanis International, Indianapolis, IN. We also provide assistance to the KT District Foundation helping in Scholarship Assistance to kids in the states of Kentucky and Tennessee.

Kiwanis Receives Thank You Cards from Mentoring Plus Children

We received a "Thank You" Letter from Chris Saunders, MP Director and "Thank You" Cards from several of their kids. We helped M+ with a donation thanks to Brianza Winery in October 2020.

Rob's Kids Receives Meijer's / Kiwanis Gift Certificates

Thanks to Meijer, Inc, Florence, we were able to present Rob's Kids two $500 Gift Certificates. Accepting for Rob's Kids was Barbara Keeling, Board Secretary at Rob's Kids. KCBC President-Elect Chris Sturgil presented them on December 22, 2020 on behalf of Phil Parsons, Meijer Store Manager at the Tousey House Restaurant, Burlington, KY. Rob's Kids assists kids with PTSD and suicide prevention issues. These certificates from Meijer will buy toys, gifts and clothing.

"Adopting a Family(s)" for the Salvation Army

We are pleased to say today 12/14/20, we at Kiwanis Boone County made deliveries to the Salvation Army of N Kentucky of a Donation Check and Christmas gifts and supplies of meals for two "Adopt A Families". May our diligence allow two families plus others have a better holiday season. We are so pleased all our members pitched in and provided time, effort and presents and food to help out our Salvation Army which is headed up by Captains Wanessa and Aaron Moore.

                                                                                                                                                              

Salvation Army's Annual Kettle Program

The Kiwanis Club of Boone County supported the Salvation Army of Northern Kentucky with our annual Bell Ringing December 5th. Several of our Club Members along with students from the Ryle High School Key Club were there to share Christmas and Holiday Spirit to folks coming and going in front of the Kroger's on Rt 18 in Burlington between 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM.

Kiwanis Assists GO Pantry

Thursday morning, 11/12/20 saw four of our Kiwanis members assist GO Pantry pack Go-Boxes and Go-Meals.  We went to the GO Pantry Office Warehouse in Florence for over two hours to prepare food distribution for children and students for the Thanksgiving Holidays coming up.

Kiwanis Awards Donation to Mentoring Plus
