Lots of great classes!
Pay special attention to:
Glenn Davison....Improving the Flight of Reluctant Kites---Glenn gives you pointers how to diagnose issues and corrections for those kites that just don't fly right.
Donna Houchins.....Sharpie Blending Techniques---a recap on Donna's 2013 class and how she blends colors on her miniatures.
Jon Trennepohl.....Spar Selection----Jon gives you straight forward info on selection of spars for type of kite and performance.
Mitch Cordover....Tools & Tidbits---Mitch is hosting a roundtable for all kitemakers to share their best tips and tools.
Scott Skinner....Three Stick Magic---Even if you took this class from Scott and Jose, live events means that you will get different information from Scott--or remember different information. Plus a great time to learn from a huge kiting name.
Chris Hanson....Scrap Tail Technique---Learn Chris's technique for his Scrap Tail, a technique he recently used on a kite donated for Kites Fighting Cancer which helped raise a total over $42,000.00 from all the kites.
Andrew Beattie....How to Tangle your Kite Lines----Andrew, Tug.com, is a big kite flier and organized enough to manage a world-wide Whale workshop with over 600 kits. What he doesn't know about line management probably isn't worth knowing. When Andrew does a festival, it is all about getting show kites in the air.....there is no time to mess with lines.
Scott Hampton....Copy the Inspiration, not the Outcome---Join one of the most inspirational kitebuilder in this discussion.
Lots of other instructors and classes--don't miss the chance to join these classes and have a chance to ask questions! They will be available online after the weekend (we don't want to lose this knowledge!) but the chance to interact with these instructors/classes will not be there.

PS....from our fellow kite making retreat, Fort Worden Kitemakers Conference.....another virtual opportunity.....
Fort Worden Kitemakers Conference·
Greetings Kitemakers,
While we might not be able to meet in person to make kites this year, the Fort Worden Kitemakers Conference wanted to find a way to provide an engaging opportunity, or two, to make kites despite the pandemic. We recognize that everyone is burned out on video conferencing and have sought to find a different way to go about it, borrowing from previously successful online offerings.
We are super excited to have Scott Hampton join us virtually to present his tumbling box. We are also excited to have Jerimy Colbert join us to present a miniature shield kite. These are both amazing projects, with different techniques and processes to offer. Scott’s box is an amazing platform and is exceptionally fun to play with in the sky. Jerimy’s, in addition to offering an intriguing canvas and completely different techniques from a sewn project, can be flown in your living room – no wind needed.
Classes will be presented via tutorial video with a concurrent Facebook Group discussion available for questions, general discussion and to share photos of completed projects. To participate, you will need to register for the classes. Registration is free, needs only be done once (for either project, or both), and will get you access to the private project Facebook group for the classes as well as links to the associated videos and materials lists. For descriptions, photos, additional details and the registration link, please visit our webpage at www.kitemakers.org
As this is our first go at virtual classes, we are thankful for Scott and Jerimy being willing to go on this journey with us, and we beg your patience as we work through the kinks in an entirely new process. We look forward to seeing your completed projects both in the discussion groups and (hopefully) on a beach later this year.
To meet the requirements of our by-laws as well as other regulations, we would also like to invite you all to a socially distanced business meeting/fun fly on Kite Hill in Seattle on April 17 at noon. We will conduct a quick meeting to accomplish the yearly business and hope to then put a kite or two in the air with friends. Covid mitigation guidelines will be followed.
On behalf of your Fort Worden Kitemakers Conference committee,
Sam King, President
