Personal

I am originally from Atlanta, GA. Thanks to academia, I lived in 5 states in 5 years (GA, NC, IL, PA, and MD, in that order). I like to travel, and my favorite part of traveling is food. Even staying local, I go to restaurants and markets specifically to get inspiration for new dishes. At this age/stage I would definitely say my biggest hobby is cooking.

Panna cotta and Aperol roasted berries (inspired by a trip to Italy)

Braised lamb and celebration rice (inspired by Zaytinya in DC)

Music has always been an important part of my life. For years, I was a competitive classical pianist and I have a B.A. in music history and theory. Though I no longer have the time nor means to practice regularly, I still absorb music. I love going to concerts and I obsess over my music collection (among other things, I am a vinyl junkie). My last concert was Death Cab for Cutie & Postal Service; my last record bought was the Raconteurs Broken Boy Soldier

I cannot imagine a world without books, or a world in which I do not read books. Here is a link to the books I have read by year.
