Chemistry I

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Chemistry is the study of matter and everything about it – its properties, composition, structure, and behavior. It also deals with the changes that matter undergoes and the energy that accompanies this change. This course is designed to enhance and extend the student chemist's prior knowledge of chemistry.

Throughout the year, the student chemists are expected to:

- engage in laboratory activities

- explore certain aspects of matter and change

- read excerpts of the textbook and notes

- accomplish homework in a timely manner

I will constantly explain, elaborate and emphasize concepts the student chemists are expected to learn and skills they are expected to demonstrate. This concepts and skills are in line with the standards set by the State of Texas for High School Sciences (for Chemistry I).
