This year's HHS Science and Engineering Fair is going FULL Virtual! While we are excited for this new adventure and experience, we also recognize the anxiety and stress that comes with launching something new. Consequently, we held an HHS SEF Reimagined Workshop last Monday, 9/21, to provide as much details as we can regarding this year's SEF process. If you missed the event, feel free to watch the recording of it at HHS SEF Reimagined Workshop.
*Most resources mentioned in the workshop may be found in the Resources Section below.
Scienteer.com, the online science and engineering fair project approval system, is now live. All Hightower High School students participating in science fair must register their project. If you have used Scienteer before, DO NOT CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT. Instead, just reactive your old account using your login credentials (email and password) from last year.
If you have never used Scienteer before, you will need to create a new account. Begin by going to the link below:
HHS Scienteer Student Registration
If the link above does not work, you can copy and paste the following web address on your browser:

NOTE: Every student must register their own account even if they will be working as a team. A user guide on how to navigate the website is available at the following link: Online Science Fair User Guide (https://www.sefhouston.org/registration/project).

Yes, maximum of 3 per group.
With teacher discretion. Once you have teacher approval, you must note who your group member’s teacher is on the Project Proposal.
No, you are free to choose a topic that interests you, regardless of the project category or subject.
It depends. This website can be useful for coming up with ideas for projects or for help with writing a procedure. However, using an entire experiment from ScienceBuddies is not appropriate for Science Fair.
No, your Adult Sponsor must be either your teacher or one of your group members’ teachers.
Yes! Everyone will use Scienteer to house documents for Science Fair.
Yes! You can visit: http://bit.ly/hhssefpage
Also, www.sefhouston.org, the official Science and Engineering Fair of Houston website, has a full listing of requirements and rules.
Your science teacher should post a Scienteer registration link in Schoology for you to access by Oct 5. This coincides with FBISD's shift to a dual model of learning (face-to-face and virtual). This is intentional because there are expected shifts in student enrollment/assignment to their science teacher. We expect all students to register with their new science teacher in Scienteer.
All due dates are in the calendar above.
