My understanding of standard IV is that I must create a consistent and well rounded learning environment. The classroom should be a community that provides equal opportunity, respect, communication and understanding. First impressions do matter. That being said the first day of class is very important. It’s important because students expect certain qualities in a teacher, so my goal for this standard is to be a lifelong learner. My experience related to this standard was when I had field experience at Rizzuto Elementary. When at Rizzuto Elementary I was placed in a first grade two-way dual language classroom. Which was great, I observed the classroom and then I taught a lesson plan. When I taught the lesson plan I choked, my lesson did not come out as planned. However, I reflected on my mistakes and learned that I can always reteach a concept.
