Japan-Joseon trade treaty desrcibes "Korean sea" as sea of Japan?

It is not correct that Japan-Joseon trade treaty desrcibes "Korean sea" as sea of Japan.

In wikipedia (en) describes as follows;

In 1883, According to Treaty of friendship and Commerce Between Japan and Korea(朝日通商章程), Japan and Korea governments described sea as "Sea of Korea(朝鮮海)" in treaty

Treaty of friendship and Commerce Between Japan and Korea(日朝通商章程) was agreed on 25th of July, Meiji 16(1883)

This 朝鮮海 doesn't mentioned to "Sea of Japan".This is just a meaning of Korean coast e.g. Strait of Korea or east coast of Korean peninsula nearby 慶尚道 where Hizen,Tikuzen, Iwami and Nagato prefecture faced with.

Actually ,some Japanese describes "朝鮮海”（Joseon Sea) e.g.Dainihon-Shishin zenzu (（官許）大日本四神全図") by Hashimoto Gyokuran (橋本玉蘭）

Checking his map there are the description of "Joseon(Korean) sea(朝鮮海）". But.this description of "朝鮮海” doesn't means the Sea Of Japan today. It was described around the Strait of Korea and east coast of 慶尚道. Moreover, ｃhecking the center of Sea of Japan, he describes 日本西海（West Japan Sea).

Another Japanese made maps around 1870's, there are no map describes "Korean sea" mentioned Sea of Japan. most of them shows it is around Strait of Korea.

Hizen, Chikuzen, Iwami and Nagato is here.

It is yes "Korean Sea" between four provinces（肥前、筑前、石見、長門） and Korean peninsula" that shows 朝鮮海 in this article.It is not Sea of Japan, but maybe resemble with the description of the Joseon sea on the map above.So, the Joseon Sea(Korean Sea) in this treaty doesn't means "Sea of Japan" today.

actually locals call it Joseon Sea (朝鮮海） ,where around the Korean coast, especially between east coast of Korea to Strait of Korea ealy in Meiji Era.

He/She insist Japan use "Korean Sea(朝鮮海）” .but the name doesn't mean Sea of Japan. It is just a Korean coast alike above case.

checking original archives here. 雲揚丁卯両艦朝鮮海路廻航 is correct.

I guess he intentionally distort to translate like this ?

雲揚 丁卯 両艦 朝鮮海 路廻航

雲揚 and 丁卯 are the name of the ship of Japan. 両艦 means "both ship"

but we cant understand how to read 朝鮮海 路廻航

This sentence conbines as follows; 雲揚 丁卯 両艦 朝鮮(Korea) 海路(Sea rounte) 廻航(Sail)

Unyou雲揚 and Teibou丁卯 , both ship sent to Joseon by searounte.(海路）

雲楊及第二丁卯両艦ノ儀今般対馬国ヨリ朝鮮国海路研究ノ為ノ廻航為致候条此旨御届仕候也 五月四日

Unyou雲揚 and Teibou丁卯 , both ship issue, now to examine the navigation rounte (海路）to Korea(朝鮮国）From Tsushima（対馬）

So, this "1" case doesn't say about Sea of Japan.or Sea of Korea. It said just a navigation the sea rounte to Joseon (Korea).

Now navigation from Uladivostoke harbour and Poshet bay, to the Joseon Sea .

This case , it is sure that they said "Joseon Sea"(朝鮮海）. but ,this means just a "Korean coast" and it is not mentioned "sea of Japan" area.

Ship "Iwaki" sail to Joseon Sea and Amagi returned from Joseon Sea. Also this is not means Sea of Japan, but just a korean coast as "Joseon sea朝鮮海”

雲揚艦外一艘廻航ノ儀 Unyou and another one ship sail issue, is correct title

事壱第四百拾弐号 雲楊第二丁夘両艦廻航之儀御届 雲楊及第二丁夘両艦之儀今般対嶋国自朝鮮国海路研究ノ為メ廻航為致候条此上旨御届仕候也

Also this case, it is not 朝鮮海 路廻航 ノ儀, but is 朝鮮-海路 廻航 ノ儀 (Searounte to Korea Sailing issue)

Check again number "1" case above.

View from this article, Japanese doesnt conside Japan Sea日本海 and Joseonsea朝鮮海 are same definiation. They clealy distinguished the difference of Japan Sea and Korean sea (around strait of Korea)

Korean's claim that Japanese called sea of Japan as "Korean sea" around 1890, is wrong information.
